Looking at the list of artists reminded me of a funny story about Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali (who are both on the list).

In the last 70's Andy Warhol made an appearance at the University of Miami and was signing Warhol stuff (Posters, books, prints, etc). Warhol was sitting at a table quickly signing items put in front of him, he never looked up or said much to the people before him. One of my friends girlfriends waited her turn and when she was up, put a postcard of Dali's Persistance of Memory in front of Warhol. For the first time Warhol looked dumbfounded , looked up and said, "Excuse me but I didn't paint this", Jackie smiled and said, "I know, don't you wish you did?". I know it's kind of mean but it was funny.

This same girl either married or lived with the director of The Gods Must be Crazy, he must have appreciated her wicked sense of humor.

I'd prefer a Warhol to a Dali any day. :-)

I'd have to have to make that choice. I find Dali fascinating but grotesque.

I'm surprised that Warhol did not sign it and then sell it. Both he and Dali were famous for signing anything anyone put in front of them, and then selling it. Lots of posters out there signed by them as if they were real works of art.

Perhaps apocyphal, but it is said by some art dealers that Dali was on his death bed, in a near-coma, and his managers had him signing blank pieces of printing paper on which they later printed posters (collographs and collotypes) and sold as original Dalis.

List of wacky product warning labels:

quote:

--A toilet brush with a tag that says "Do not use for personal hygiene"

-- A scooter with the warning "This product moves when used."

-- A digital thermometer with the advice "Once used rectally, the thermometer should not be used orally."

-- An electric blender used for chopping and dicing that reminds users to " "Never remove food or other items from the blades while the product is operating."

-- And a three-inch bag of air used for packaging that read "Do not use this product as a toy, pillow, or flotation device."
