Dave, what do you mean when you say you believe that? Are you saying that that is indeed Wittgenstein's aim, i.e. to convert us?

I believe unequivocally in the Heisenberg Uncertainty principle. But I also believe the more I try to prove it, the less likely I am to do so.

Call me crazy, but I believe that I am having a hard time proving that the only thing I can't resist is temptation.

oooooooooooo what a great song

"I believe in coyotes and time as an abstract
Explain the change, the difference between
What you want and what you need, there's the key,
Your adventure for today, what do you do
Between the horns of the day? I believe my shirt is wearing thin
And change is what I believe in."

I Believe

In these times of contention it's not my intention to make things plain
I'm looking through mirrors to catch the reflection that can't be mine
I'm losing control now I'll just have to slow down a thought or two
I can't feel the future and I'm not even certain that there is a past

I believe in the worker's revolution
And I believe in the final solution
I believe in
I believe in
I believe in the shape of things to come
And I believe in I'm not the only one
Yes I believe in
I believe in

When I poison my system I take thoughts and twist them into shapes
I'm reaching my nadir and I haven't an idea of what to do
I'm painting by numbers but can't find the colours that fill you in
I'm not even knowing if I'm coming or going if to end or begin

I believe in the immaculate conception
And I believe in the resurrection
And I believe in
I believe in
I believe in the elixir of youth
And I believe in the absolute truth
Yes I believe in
I believe in

There is no love in this world anymore
There is no love in this world anymore

I've fallen from favour while trying to savour experience
I'm seeing things clearly but it has quite nearly blown my mind
It's the aim of existence to offer resistance to the flow of time
Everything is and that is why it is will be the line

I believe in perpetual motion
And I believe in perfect devotion
I believe in
I believe in
I believe in the things I've never had
I believe in my Mum and my Dad
And I believe in
I believe in

There is no love in this world anymore
There is no love in this world anymore

I'm skippin' the pages of a book that takes ages for the foreword to end
Triangular cover concealing another aspect from view
My relative motion is just an illusion from stopping too fast
The essence of being these feelings I'm feeling I just want them to last

I believe in original sin
And I believe what I believe in
Yes I believe in
I believe in
I believe in the web of fate
And I believe in I'm going to be late
So I'll be leavin'
What I believe in

I believe being an aging punk is better than being an aging hippie

My favorite from the website (as quoted in the Times):

Psychologist David Meyers, Hope College:

As a Christian monotheist [is there any other type?], I start with:

1. There is a God.
2. It's not me (and it's not you).

Together, these axioms imply my surest conviction: that some of my beliefs (and yours) contain error. We are, from dust to dust, finite and fallible. We have dignity but not deity.

And that is why I further believe that we should:

a) hold all our unproven beliefs with a certain tentativeness (except for this one!);
b) assess others' ideas with open-minded skepticism, and
c) freely pursue truth aided by observation and experiment.

This mix of faith-based humility and skepticism helped fuel the beginnings of modern science, and it as informed my own research and science writing. The whole truth cannot be found merely by searching our own minds, for there is not enough there. So we must also put our ideas to the test. If they survive, so much the better for them; if not, so much the worse.-

I believe that I possess one of the greatest singing voices of my generation.

The fact that my parents, sister, 8th grade music teacher, husband, numerous close personal friends, neighbors, UPS personnel delivering packages, and everyone I've ever worked with disagree only indicates that I'm ahead of my time and recognition will be slightly delayed. Jealousy is also a factor.

As evidence, my husband likes to point out that my infant son's first words were "Mommy stop singing" but what he fails to acknowledge is that during that event the dog was also howling and the kid was obviously just confused.

I believe that "My Dinner with Andre" was one of the most boring movies ever made.

I believe that there should be a salary cap on all professional sports teams and that each team should have an equal payroll with which to work.

I believe that we should start paying teachers as much as the Wall Streeters because the act of making minds is more important than that of making money.

I believe that Tabitha had to be impacted for life by the fact that a stranger suddenly appeared in her home and was passed off as her father, Darren, by her devious and complicit mother, Samantha.

I believe that the Democratic party has become little more than a balkanized collection of special interest groups and has no single unifying central message or value beyond "let's beat the republicans".

I believe that most NJ developers have become little more than extortionists who use Mt. Laurel to blackmail communities.

I believe that the current Republican party leadership is morally and intellectually corrupt.

I believe that political correctness will ultimately have the effect of making the nation into a bland melting pot, a regression to the social mean, if you will, instead of faciliating cultural pluralism.

I believe that Prarie Home Companion has become an obsolete and self indulgent mish-mosh.

I believe that neither whole language or phonics is the answer...that a combination of the two is most effective.
