I am starting to look into summer camps, I wasn't too happy with the Y or the Town's camp and am considering the West Orange JCC camp. Anyone have input they care to share. Thanks |

I don't know too much about the JCC Camp but I believe it is in Flanders New Jersey and is about an hour away by bus. My son went to day camp at Oak Knoll in Summit for a few summers and really liked it. They have a lot of activities, good counselors (college students)and a lot of activity specialists are teachers. They offer a couple of different camps including a general camp, a sports camp and an arts camp. The only negative is that they do not have a large pool so they do swimming instruction off-site at either the connection or the Y in Summit. They have an above ground pool which I believe they use for the youngest campers. The Oak Knoll campus has good athletic fields, an air conditioned Dining room and I believe the classrooms where they do some indoor activities are also air conditioned. Good Luck |

How old are your kids? My 7th grader loves, loves, loves Camp Sloane in Lakeville, CT. http://www.camp-sloane.org It's pretty inexpensive, compared to most others, too. It's a YMCA camp. |

I agree on the posting in Education. We need the equivalent of full-time care as both parents work. We were happy with the Y Teen Adventure -- for the most part -- but alternated with this Y sleep away camp in Dingman's Ferry, PA (bout 1-1/2 hr away): http://www.campspeersymca.org/summer/default.htm |

Are you referring to the JCC in West Orange or Camp Deeny Riback in Flanders? My son goes to the one in West Orange. How old is your child? It is best to get a move on a camp selection now. Some places fill up (and the prices go up)by the end of January. I believe the JCC now has a dvd (as to many other camps) for potential families. |

I was thinking about the Deeny Riback in Flanders, I didn't know the West Orange had a camp. We want a place with lots of space not in the middle of town. |
