Liberal bias takes a hit as 4 are sent packing. Libs continue losing ground EVERYDAY. God bless President Bush and God bless the United States of America. |

Wow Straws multiple personality disorder is getting worse. I could almost buy that he was a famous wealthy friend to stars and politicians alike but now he's claiming to be THE fat lady. |

The report is incomplete and hardly definitive, aside from detailing the failings of the CBS process (while not delving into political motivations at all, just dismissing that they could be part of the mess). Rather still believes the story without hard evidence (journalist that he is(n't)), and the report doesn't come down definitively as to the veracity or genuineness of the documents. What do they need -- more time? CBS is hoping it just goes away if they fire some people. CBS News is still a suspect organization. |

Interestingly Bush has never denied the allegations made in this story. Something to think about I think. |

Bush never discussed the story..Big difference. Why should he? Would you sit there and defend yourself against a pack of lies if everyone already knew it was a lie? |

Well, not everybody already knew, and Bush had the Republican media machine working for him (Newsmax, Drudge, etc.). Sometimes it pays to take the "I'm not going to dignify this with a response" approach, but sometimes you need to fight back. I think that if Kerry had fought back harder at the Swift Boat charges (speaking of packs of lies), he might have won the election. |

"CBS is hoping it just goes away if they fire some people." You don't really want to go down this road, do you? I do agree that CBS has/had a systemic problem. But unlike some other media sources, they are trying to address their apparent bias. |

Let's admit that none of us will ever really know the motivations of CBS and the individuals they fired. Everyone wants to appear to be doing the right thing, but it is also possible that there's a whole lotta "C.Y.A." going on. The producer who got fired swears that she fully vetted everything with her superiors, and in any case, it was her superiors' decision on when to air the piece -- if they had any doubts about any aspect of the story, they could have delayed it or tanked it. Also, I find it interesting that the panel could not prove that the documents in question were forgeries. |

And don't forget that the secretary who would have typed those memos (had they been genuine) said that while she did not believe them to be genuine, they did accurately represent the General's feelings about Bush. |

they were fired because libs and journalism don't mix. They were sent packing for destroying what was left of CBS NEWS. They were fired because the network now realizes Americans won't tolerate being lied to by the left anymore. This was about liberals once again being shown the door. The radical left is dead. |

Not dead yet! Collector: Bring out yer dead. [a man puts a body on the cart] Man: Here's one. Collector: That'll be ninepence. Old Man: I'm not dead. Collector: What? Man: Nothing. There's your ninepence. Old Man: I'm not dead. Collector: 'Ere, he says he's not dead. Man: Yes he is. Old Man: I'm not. Collector: He isn't. Man: Well, he will be soon, he's very ill. Old Man: I'm getting better. Man: No you're not, you'll be stone dead in a moment. Collector: Well, I can't take him like that. It's against regulations. Old Man: I don't want to go on the cart. Man: Oh, don't be such a baby. Collector: I can't take him. Old Man: I feel fine. Man: Oh, do me a favor. Collector: I can't. Man: Well, can you hang around for a couple of minutes? He won't be long. Collector: I promised I'd be at the Robinsons'. They've lost nine today. Man: Well, when's your next round? Collector: Thursday. Old Man: I think I'll go for a walk. Man: You're not fooling anyone, you know. Isn't there anything you could do? Old Man: I feel happy. I feel happy. [the Dead Collector glances up and down the street furtively, then silences the Body with his a whack of his club] Man: Ah, thank you very much. Collector: Not at all. See you on Thursday. Man: Right. |

CBS gets canned for "liberal bias" because it's critical of Bush's service or the lack thereof but whatever happened to Judith Miller's "exposes" of the WMDs for the NY Times that actually propped up the propaganda of the govt in its zeal to characterize Iraq as an imminent threat? Not a whimper then from the right wingers about the media's "liberal bias".... The CBS reported a story that was basically true but could not authenticate it properly. Miller of the Times ran a series of articles that were essentially false, which in turn were based on "authentic evidence" conveniently provided by the Pentagon. CBS fired four of its staff members and as far as I know, Miller still holds her job. Go figure! |

What explanation is there for the fact that the producer called the Kerry campaign to tip them off to the story? How do you explain that the story was rushed to air with little more than three working days to investigate it thoroughly? You have to read the first two or three paragraphs in the Times today covering this story! It puts a new spin on parsing. Not even the Times can figure why Rather (whom it called overworked at the time) persisted in defending the story for a week after so many questions were raised. His hamming it up for a story he NEVER worked on made the whole situation far worse than it needed to be. Does this poor man believe he has authority or credibility?

I'm not saying you're stupid, I'm saying that you have echoed CBS's excuse. They too hold to the tune that the story was accurate but the source they used to authenticate the story was flawed. I don't get this. How can anyone claim this story is accurate when there is just no proof. This has been nothing more then a wish among liberals. Bush served in the Nat Guard. End of story. |

Yet another Times mention. That must be one heck of a paper. I hate to spoil the ending but Bush will be sworn in next week not Kerry. I give CBS an "A" for effort but they not only got caught but their guy lost. I'm sure Rather just can't understand how this all happened. Hey Dan, it's those stupid red-staters that didn't play along. Now if the all omnipotent New York Times would have broken the story then of course those red-staters would have jumped to the ready and voted Kerry in. They simply chose the wrong outlet. |
