Don't jump for joy so quickly. Supposed to turn to rain before long, and temps are expected to hit 60 on Thursday.

I am convinced that the snowblower we bought in September is responsible for the mild winter.

No, it is because I rescheduled the construction on my house due to the impending cold weather.

I could have a friggin' new kitchen by now.

:-) Alas - you are right. It turned to little raindrops in NYC. :-(

Well, at least I have cute boots! (Note: They are VERY practical - made sure they were real boots after last year's little fall!)

Would you mind telling me where you got them? My wife has been looking (in vain) for some good, practical waterproof boots.

I bought a pair of Merrell Tundra - they are so purdy! The only thing is that it is tight to get your foot in around the ankle area (that curve) then they fit fine. They are really great ice shoes. After that spill last year that ended up w/ a concussion I wanted something that could really grip ice.

And they are lightweight. - OOh, and again - did I mention cute?

If you froogle them they are sold in nordstroms, bargain outfitters etc.
Usually run about 100

Lands End or LLbean. I got slip ons at the end of the season from Lands End for about $30, they are not high boots but they're warm and not too ugly—I even wear them when it rains or it's damp, my husband liked them so much I ordered him a pair too and they're similar to Clark's I got him last year for double the price. Look on the overstock section of Lands' End.

I got some very warm (insulated) and waterproof slip-on boots at Target last week on clearance. They didn't have a complete range of sizes anymore, but they had one pair left in my size (8) as well as several others and they are great! (I was outside for a great deal of time in the wet/chilly/sloppy mess last weekend, so they got a good testing then.)

My only gripe is that these types of shoes hardly ever come in narrow sizes, although they are sometimes available in Wide widths. I don't understand why the manufacturers won't do narrower women's boots. Women who need wide widths can usually find a Men's (or kids') size that will work, but those of us with narrow feet have no such option.

I went with the inexpensive Target boots precisely because they were inexpensive and I'll just put up with wearing 2 or 3 pairs of thick socks with them, but I hate to spend big bucks on footwear that really doesn't fit.

Anybody tried Yaktrax? My husband got them for me about a week ago but we haven't had a bad enough storm to try them yet.

Re boots: I highly recommend Neos. They come in a variety of styles (high and low) and fit nicely over one's shoes so you don't have to carry a separate pair to change into when you reach your destination.
