A friend is coming with her 2 children (6 and 10) and wanted a recommendation for a hotel near Central Park. I said I'd ask all of you. Any recommendation for a mid-range (what does that mean?) hotel? thanks, |

Try the Excelsior Hotel on West 81st. They may be booked up, but its a great location and a good price. Right across from both the planetarium and CPW. |

Mayflower on CPW and 62ndish is OK. My parents have stayed there and thought it was fine. On 55th and 6th -- 4 blocks from the park is the Warwick which is about the same, maybe a little nicer. |

I don't think the Mayflower is there anymore. They were tearing it down sometime last year. |
