Did anyone see this story? Prince Harry dressed in a German military shirt and Nazi arm band at a friends 22nd birthday party?

Incredible embarassment. If the Nazis had their way there wouldn't be an England or a Prince Harry. Here's the link: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20050113/wl_uk_afp/britainroyalshar ry_050113001749 |

The British defeated the Nazis, with help from the Russians (after June of 1941 when their German ally turned against them) and the Americans (after December of 1941 when Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor finally silenced the isolationists). Although there were enormous losses from German bombing, there was not the wholesale murder of civilians in Britain as there was in Russia or in occupied Europe where the Jews were specific targets of the Reich. The war is therefore perceived somewhat differently in Britain than it is here. Still, it was not the best judgement on the Prince's part to get dressed up as one of the country's former enemies, especially this one. |

Filthy, the lot of them. The Queen Mother supported apartheid with great fervor. http://foi.missouri.edu/classdeclass/hitlersawduke.html |

The wealthy in Britain were often pro-Hitler, just as they were in America (like Henry Ford or the Bush family, for example). |

What a half-wit. I mean....how thick skulled do you have to be to think that this "costume" is in any way a good idea? He's twenty for cripes sake - he should have some sense by now. |

Was it in terrible taste. Absolutely. But give the guy a break, look at his life. His mom died as he entered his teenage years and I doubt his father invested the required time to raise a teenager. He made a mistake and will surely learn from it. |

He's channeling his great great uncle. Next you know he will be trying to marry a divorced woman--oops, his dad already picked up on that part of the family legacy |

Harry's problem is that he's unbelievably wealthy, knows he'll never have to work a day in his life or lift a finger to do anything for himself, has been treated like he's somehow better than everyone else because he's royalty, has a father who mourned his mother's death for around 5 minutes before deciding it was OK to start making public appearances with his mistress, and has probably rarely (if ever) encountered anyone willing to take a hard stand with him and talk to him like he's a teenager as opposed to a prince. |

I agree, horrible taste and a PR nightmere for the Royals. However, this is a 20 year old kid going to a costume party, not the revival of the National Socialist Party. |

Yes, terrible sense of humor and bad judgment. But I've known other Englishmen who despise all Germans to come to parties in such costumes (seen it with me own eyes, I 'ave). I cannot explain the British sense of humor, but it is prepared for harsher jokes than ours, is less politically correct, and likes to shock. Not that that excuses him. I also wonder how many Jewish people Prince Harry has ever known. Not many in his circles, probably. |

Great point John D. - you're right; there is definitely a harsher, more ironic side to their humor. |
