My vote is Orchard Park off Ridgewood Ave. Love the intimacy of the place. Perfect for my two-year old to go romping.

"Red Tubes" - also know as Farrel Field. That's my son's favorite.

on Maplewood Ave right on the border of Maplewood and SO -- it has tennis courts, a baseball field and playground equipment with ... red tubes!

My favorite at the moment is Memorial Park, whose ice rink has been turned into a bird sanctuary by the warm weather we have been having.

I 've always liked Taylor Park in Millburn. The cherry tree blossoms are beautiful in the spring (although Branch Brook Park is THE place to go in the area to see cherry tree blossoms), there is a very pretty rose planting (in season, by the gazebo near the Millburn Avenue side of the park), and the path around the lake is about a 1/2 mile, great for walking for exercise. (Last time I checked they also had an exercise circuit, with various stations at specific points in the park.) I also like the fountain in the lake, when it is operating. It's a small park but I like that because it seems safer from a security standpoint--it's not so isolated. Plus, you can always take a walk to the Millburn Deli or the other nearby places to take a break!

Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown -- 24 runs straight there, takes around 20 minutes. Gorgeous.

PS We call Farrel Field "the red-and-green playground." My son loves it too. The playground by the SO Pool is also wonderful.

I even give the babysitters walking directions to the "red and green" playground!

The park behind Gefken Florist is the hidden jewel....is that Orchard? I forget it's real name. I know it's on DeHart but it's not DeHart park.

We call Farrell Field the "Rainbow Park" . . . poor Mr./Ms. Farrell!
