A group of our young (Middle and High School) bands are getting together on Saturday, January 29th at the Baird Center, S.O., to do a benefit for Tsunami relief. The fun starts at 6:30 PM and the following bands are playing:

Great Fields of Fire
The Symptoms
Garbage Warriors
Gammacash
Science of Self
Welfare

This should be a fun night for the kids (grown-ups too)and it's for a great cause. Come on out and support your local musicians and the Tsunami victims.

OK grown-ups enjoy the battle of the bands but let the kids have some fun the weekend after and send them to this event.

My kid is is one of these bands. He's really looking forward to it. Uke, do you know any more details? I'd be willing to help set up/clean up or sell tix, or refreshments....do you know if there's a grown up in charge?

OK there will be 5 adults (approx 1 for every 20 kids), soda will be purchased through the Baird centers vending machines and there will be a bake sale. Have your kids come down, they'll have a blast.

Tickets are $5 and a local resident has pledged to donate an additional $15 for every ticket sold.

Please plan on attending, but if you can't make it and like to purchase a ticket anyway (remember your $5 will equal $20) please contact Andrew Gibbons at acting3me@aol.com.

Does anyone know specifically which charity the money is going toward? I think I might be able to sell a few tickets, and it would be good to know.

Have to say that it will probably be better than "Battle Of the Bands".
While I can enjoy the bands, I am kind of tired of hearing them all the time, I was just telling my wife the other day that I wondered if there were any high school bands, are at least some young and fresh bands around to check out.
Guess this is my opportunity, and it's a good cause to boot.

monster-They are high school and middle school bands playing. Come check out the talent in the making.

I forgot which charity this is going to (and I can't call my son at school) but it is a legitimate one. I can probably post this info when I get home tonight 7-8 PM.

There was a terrific turnout and all the bands did a great job. They also raised a lot of money for a great cause.

Bravo for the teen and pre-teen bands of Maplewood and South Orange and all the kids who came out to support them.
