Khun Thai on 504 Millburn Ave. has the BEST Thai food in the area, IMHO.

Morris Thai on Morris Avenue in Union is great for take-out or a more casual dinner.

New Main Taste on Main Street in Chatham is a fancier Thai restaurant. The food is excellent, but service can be slow because their kitchen is small. Definitely try it, but make a reservation.

Sampan is on Millburn Avenue (between Millburn Ave & Essex St) , in a blue roofed building that looks like an IHOP (which the building was at one point) . Just west of where Millburn Avenue splits (by PNC Investments and Annie Sez) and becomes one way (and is now Essex Street).

suzanneng: Thanks. I know that place. I was there years ago when it was simple Chinese. What is it like now? Maybe I'll try it.

Went to Sampan last nite about 7pm. Glad to report that they were busy (8-10 tables filled) Often we have been the only diners in the place. Unfortunatly they only had one server, but he busted his butt and did a terrific job of waiting on (all) of us. Great dinner.

I hate to let the secret out, but the best Thai food around is Thai House on Rt. 22 --- Right across from Bocraft. It is not the fancy Khun-Thai type (which, I love). It is worth the 15-minute drive and it is BYO. The owners are very accommodating and don't mind if you stop at the Burger King up the road to keep the picky kids happy, too.
