I like it better than some ordinary dumb old tree...

Maplewood, home of the worlds largest golf tee, great idea.

Steel:

Why not give Lucy of Margate a little competitiion?

This is a terrific idea. It turns a potential liability into a real asset!

I honestly think you should share this idea with the Country Club, Verizon, the BOA, and the TC.

Are you planning to bring a mock-up or at least a board to the TC meeting on Tuesday so we can get the ball rolling on this project?

Can we classify it as public art? Get some sort of tax benefit?

We might as well "make lemonade" and the kids all agree that it would be a lot more interesting than the fake tree.

Thanks Joan,
Meanwhile, I've already got my mock-up of my design for the
new police station ready for presentation at tomorrow's TC meeting.police, jpg

If Verizon and the CC go in that direction I think we should have an annual "Golf Tee Festival", kinda like those towns that have Strawberry Festivals, etc. Should be a big money maker for the local merchants and the GRW can set up a viewing tower in his yard, charge admission and make up for some of his lost home value. :-)

Aren't you people forgetting something?

You're in Maplewood.

Someone will object on religious/aesthetic/moral/criminal/dubious/personal grounds and the BOE and the TC will scurry about and appoint committees that will avoid the issues and obfuscate from here to eternity, while the great mass of the populace writhes about in utter confusion, whereupon the politicians will ban the use of cell phones while listening to christmas music, thus causing the loonie left to scream victory and the religious right to predict the imminent decline of western civilization.

And we'll still have lousy cell service!

You know those reds are trying to pollute our precious bodily fluids. . . I heard it direct from General Jack D. Ripper.

With profuse apologies to Profeta. Who chided me in a private post.

Shouldn't Steel's tower be the same color as the first golf tee Dr. Lowell whittled? Historical accuracy is needed here.
