The Official George W. Bush "Days Left In Office" Countdown

(It's 1,461...)

"Like any event we look forward to – weddings, weekends, vacations, or the end of a moronic president’s second term – counting backwards helps us maintain our sanity while reminding us that an end is in sight, all of which allow time to tick away faster."

With that in mind, we can begin to speculate on the scandal that will define Bush's second term. Here's a prediction:

Members of the GOP will defect over the cost of Social Security overhaul that it will die a humiliating death (most of them will be dead before 2040, so they won't care much). He won't get the votes for tort reform, so it won't make it to a vote. The first signs of the inevitable second-term scandal will start to waft into the air to the point that moderates will already start looking to align themselves with future powerbroker John McCain.

Bush will be taken down by his brazen corruption and overwhelming arrogance (how exactly is still open to speculation...any thoughts?). He probably won't finish his second term, leaving office Nixon-like in complete disgrace.

Whether Bush finishes a second term or not, he is likely to be identified as the most reviled president in American history. (At this point, greater minds than mine have already said that Bush is the worst president in American history). His administration will unravel like a ball of yarn in a cat's paws. Bush himself will descend a mental slippery slope while living in seclusion and paranoia. It's is what Richard Nixon did when the lid exploded off Watergate.

I find your final paragraph to be the most likely. Hopefully, his worst missteps are behind us, but I am afraid the biggest blunders are yet to come.

Jerk, originality is an indicator of intelligence.

Don't feel bad. You can still have a role to play here. Every village needs an idiot, and every idiot needs a backup. The gig is yours, if you want it. There's no pay, but we do offer flex-time.
