Recent evidence suggests otherwise. |

When Christy was Governator here in NJ she cut taxes and also cut state aid to education. During her term the percentage of state aid to the SOMSD plumented. Ms. Whitman has a lot of good points, mostly on the enviornmental and social issue side, but her administration cleaned out the closet during boom times and she left office just before the economic downturn. |

She was into bondage and spending, a variation on taxing and spending only with the economic pain deferred (and the political pain, also). |

Corzine may overcome Dick Codey, but I don't think that would be for the better. Codey is a seasoned veteran who has navigated the waters of State Party in-fighting- he's won some and lost some, but he seems to get things done. He is also a reasonable person who strives to build a consensus when possible. Corzine would trade a seat in D.C. for the Governor's Office because he wants to be in control- but that alone lets you know that there is something of an autocrat lurking within him. I think he will lock horns with State Officials more often than not and he may alienate some of the top people within his own Party. On the other hand, either Codey or Corzine is likely to beat Forrester or Schundler handily. I still think that Jon Corzine can better serve New Jersy in the Senate- Frank Lautenberg is basically holding the fort on a short-term basis, and if Corzine leaves N.J. won't have a Senator with any tenure for another 8-10 years. We already get a poor return on our tax dollars, partly because of our Senate turnover in recent years. |

I agree I'd like to see Corzine stay put. By the way Brett, my brother got the SCTV DVD. I can't wait to watch it. |

I hate to say it, but Jon Corzine has enough money to buy the seat if he wants. When he and Dick go to the county chairmen for endorsements in the primary, Corzine will be offering money, while Codey will be asking for it. I think Corzine sees being Governor as a step towards running for President. |
