"For God's sake, don't listen to Donald Rumsfeld. He doesn't know what the hell he's talking about on this." (To Rice, today.) Amen, Hallelujah. Biden's back. |

Oh, come on Tulip. After all that, he voted for Rice. He's very much a establishment guy. I'd say the only Democrat with spunk on that committee is Barbara Boxer. |

Musst, You may be right. However, I have been waiting since before the war for signs of life from Biden. |

I DETEST Biden. He's such a smug prick. He referred to Gonzalez as "bud" (or "buddy", I can't remember). How 'bout a little decorum and coherence. A statement like "he doesn't know what he's talking about on this" is a perfect example---an ad hominum attack with zero substance that his partisan supporters (like you, Tulip) eat up as somehow "speaking the truth". Only in a pipsqueak state like Delaware could a man like Biden be consistently reelected.

The only two who voted against confirmation are doing pre-2008 street-cred collection. |

Whenever I hear Biden say something, I get an odd sense of deja-vu, like I've heard it from someone else before. |

Nah, he writes all his own stuff. He delivered a great speech recently. Brief and to the point. It started out, "Four score and seven years ago..." |

mwoodwalk, I'd rather be from Delaware than the corrupt, wannabe, bloated little Napolean that is New Jersey. At least in Delaware (and maybe Rhode Island, for similar reasons) Republicans and Democrats are obliged to get along, keep it civil and keep it on the issues as there's little room to hide. NJ seems to be nothing but an infested warren of hidey holes for excessive quantities of bureaucrats and politicos. And, while I've had issues with Biden's ego over the years, I'd trade his international smarts -- even with the plagiaristic lapse -- over most Democratic and Republican contenders any day of the week. 'Course I'm from Delaware, so I'm a bit biased... |

Cynical, you save the most relevant line for last . . . . And I venture to guess that true conservatives are not a welcome part of the left-center coalition of Delaware politicians.

Yep! Delaware has its share of extremists, just not many. There are Larouche people for example, and god knows some rather odd conservatives. So, I guess I'd agree if you'd amend to "true convservatives and true liberals..." And, I do think that, for it's size, NJ has managed to create an absurd amount of government and politicization. |
