While at the Mall at Wellington Green (Wellington, FL) the other day, we were walking to our car and to my surprise, there was a black Intrepid parked next to us with NJ license plates on it. The kicker was that the license plate holder was from Royal Dodge in Maplewood. Now, since we moved from Maplewood, I found that funny. It doesn't mean this person lived in Maplewood, but they sure could have. Just thought this was funny. |

(drift? pointless personal story?) Another "Maplewood in..." story: In the late 1950s in Los Angeles County, CA, my dad was the supervisor of a municipal electric power plant. When they installed some new equipment, someone came in and took pictures of the machinery and a bunch of '50s guys in suits or work clothes standing around it, and bound a set for presentation. I kept the presentation book for the pictures of my dad. After moving to Maplewood in 1990, corner of Kendal Ave. and Cedar Lane, I pulled the book out for no reason, and saw the photographer's name and address: Ridgewood Road and Cedar Lane, Maplewood, NJ. |

Several years ago a Maplewood family was vacationing in Disney World. As they were walking through the parking they noticed a white chevy, NJ plates and fancy lettering on the sides of the vehicle that read "Fire Chief - Maplewood NJ". Obviously shocked and dismayed, they took a photo or two for posterity and circulation back home. Nope - no scandal here - the Fire Chief of the time was there for a previously approved and entirely appropriate Fire Service convention. Even more "it's a small world" - my family were travelling in Ireland while I was a kid - and we tried to check into a hotel near Blarney Castle. The hotel was completely booked because a bus trip was pulling in while we were standing there - 2 busloads of Our Lady of Sorrows parishoners and 2 of the parish priests (we were also parishoners but had not anticipated crossing paths with the group) |

My husband and I were in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris two summers ago when a voice behind us said "Don't I know you from South Orange?" And indeed, there was a couple that we knew slightly (parents of a child's friend). |
