Just watched this movie. Arguably the stupidest movie since Dumb and Dumber. I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. Anyone else seen it?

I saw it in the theater - no one would go with me so I went by myself. Thought it was hysterical, I want to check out the extras on the DVD!!

I'm told by my son that the extras are equally hilarious. I haven't watched them yet.

the only funny part for me was the scene in the karate school. in fact, the karate instructor reminded me of a popular karate teacher in town many years ago. i don't
know if he's still around. he would tell the kids in between cadas, " its okay to work in mc donalds if your 17 but its not okay if your 35" and other pearls of wisdom.

O.K. Help me out here, Arguably the stupidest movie since Dumb and Dumber. This is a good thing? Doesn't sound like it. I wasn't that impressed with Dumb and Dumber, with the exception of a couple of really funny scenes.

Then you go on to say: I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. I know that's good.

So which is it, stupid or funny?

The funny part about the movie is hearing teenagers say the lines from the movie the way the characters do...even without having seen the movie. I thought the movie was weird, but Napolean and his cohort are so bizarre, that you do have to laugh. It's gaining cult status like Rocky Horror - seeing the movie over and over and then repeating the lines.

The guy who played the lead is either a great actor or too close to the part for comfort.

Like the fact that they named the movie after an Elvis Costello alter-ego.

You know I'm training to become a cage fighter...

And Uncle Rico was a riot :-) I loved when Napoleon threw that grapefruit at his car and he screamed like a school girl! I had to rewind that part four or five times :-)

there's a wedding scene at the end of the credits!

Yeah, it says '2 Months Later' and they show Kip and LaFawnduh getting marriaged up. It's not particularly funny but it's something else to see

Is that the girl who left all that crap on your front porch?

BTW, the second time I saw the movie, I realized Tina looked familiar. I looked her up on imdb and learned that she was the little girl in Corinna, Corinna (a Whoopi Goldberg movie that's actually kind of good and sweet). None of the other cast members have done anything particularly remarkable.

My favorite scene is the chicken farmer who, while eating lunch, points off to the distance and mumbles something unintelligible.

Hilarious stuff, but you have to be of a certain mindset or personality to "get" the movie's humor.

We love this movie! It is hilarious -- even grown adults with a wry sense of humor will get a kick out of it. It definitely is an acquired taste because it is so over the top but we think it is brilliant. I, too, believed this guy had to be a major geek or an incredibly gifted actor. Just found this photo of him on a website and was shocked to see what he really looks like. he is supposedly going to be on leno on 2/5. Definitely want to see him out of character.jon heder photo

After reading this thread, I saw the movie. I thought it was pretty good! The schtick, though, is that no one is ever really happy throughout the movie.

Yeah, but he's pretty good with a Bo staff....

They may not have been happy all through the movie but in the end everyone gets a happy ending. Rico's girlfriend returns, Kip gets married, Napoleon gets the girl...*sniff* must I go on???

In a way, Napoleon, although really an odd bird to say the least, is the only one who seems to see the ridiculousness in things (like about his grandmother, Kip, and Rico).

..."this is the worst video ever made..."

The reply, something like, "like anyone could know that" was the first hint that this was something completely different.

Like a funnier, warmer "Welcome to the Dollhouse?"

And yeah, the girl Tina was also the young girl with the map on her back in Waterworld. Also looks like "if Stockard Channing and Ray Liotta had a kid" ....

There hasn't been dialogue like this since, like, infinity:

Uncle Rico: I wish you wouldn't look at me like that, Napoleon.
Napoleon Dynamite: I wish you'd get out of my life and shut up!
Uncle Rico: I'm gonna tell you somethin' right now. While you're out there playing patty cake with your friend Pedro, your Uncle Rico is makin' 120 bucks.
Napoleon Dynamite: I could make that much money in five seconds!
Kip: Geez. Yeah right, Napoleon. I made, like, 75 bucks today.
Uncle Rico: Napoleon, it's looks like you don't have a job. So why don't you get out there and feed Tina.
Napoleon Dynamite: Why don't you go eat a decroded piece of crap!
