Located on Millburn Ave, (before it becomes one way). Just past "West Coast Video", but before "Annie Says" and "Subway Salon."

Good service, friendly wait staff. The owner, Danny, also came over to our table to introduce himself and insure all was well.

Some unusual Thai dishes, numerous steamed selections, and traditional. Good prices, good food. Give it a try. On a scale of 1-5, a solid 3. I rarely give out 4's and I have only been to one 5 (ever.)

Here is a review that I posted on the message board at MillburnWeb.com. I guess that I had a different experience than you.

Marc @ millburnweb.com

=========================================

We decided to try the new Jade Garden Chinese restaurant. This is the place in The Commons that replaced JJ's.

Executive Summary : We were expecting a lot and came away disappointed. Too many things are fried.

For appetizers, I ordered a Hot and Sour soup, a staple of any Chinese restaurant. This version was OK, nothing special. My daughter ordered Coconut Shrimp. What we got was a lot of fried batter. We also ordered steamed dumplings. They were served in a wicker "steaming basket", which was a nice touch.

We then had two entries. My Honey Shrimp with Walnuts was served in a "birds-nest" shaped basket of wanton or fried noodle. The shrimps were fried in batter, and they were served with a separate bowl of sweet sauce which you had to apply yourself. The same dish at Sampan is much better.

The Mango Thai Chicken was tasteless.

We order fried banana for dessert. What we got was more banana dipped in batter... no honey sauce, no whipped cream, nothing to smooth out the batter.

All in all, we paid for half food, half fried batter. We will not be going back.

Decently rendered old school Chinese...fried noodles at the start. Pineapple chicken served in a pineapple bowl with pineapple fried rice (a real hit with the 5 year old). Decent adult entrees, but too little heat and too much sugar relative to our hopes/expectations.

Not bad, but not a major draw either -- not really our style.

Still looking for a local sit-down chinese place that we can love, rather than just like. Any nominations?

we've been going to the one across from South Mountan Arena/Next to Turtle Brook Inn. It's good -- I like the dumplings, scallion pancakes and Peking Duck. Son likes the sesame chicken and husband liked the amazing chicken. I want to try Cathay 22.

We really like Hunan Taste in Denville, for the atmosphere as much as the food

Pippi -- I really want to try that place. Do you take 80 to get there or is there a back road way?

The one across from the South Mountain arena is Joy Luck - great place. Amazing fish dishes, too.

Alg - we take 24 to 287 to 80... I think.
I'm not so good with stuff like that. Either way, I don't know of back roads.
It's pretty easy, less than 30 minutes and it's fun - your son would love it!

My 5 was "Commanders Palace" in the Garden District of Naw'lins. The food was fantastic, the service supreme and the price, well what can you expect at such an amazing establishment. Yet, I've paid higher prices in NYC on numerous occassions.

If memory serves me, Commanders Palace was considerably cheaper than most "fancy" NYC restaurants - a pleasant surprise given the food and atmosphere
