Actually less than half, 48% to be exact. Took the entire family out for a nice meal tonight. Not too often we do that on a Thursday. The restaurant was packed! Lots of nice people celebrating the good fortune of having Bush for another four years.

As much as I hate Bush, this is one sorry excuse for a web site/project. This is what democracy is about. We shouldn't apologize for who is elected. Now, to say "Don't blame me, I voted for the other guy," that's ok. But to apologize for democracy? Insane. And Singlemalt, I doubt very much that many people were out celebrating the inauguration. Thursday is a big night for dining out. |

In light of the called protests to stay home yesterday, the restaurants seemed to be filled more than usual. |

The "Proests" went almost totally UN-noticed.

The "Proests" went almost totally UN-noticed. ahem…I doubt that! Thousands Protest Bush's Inauguration White House - AP Thousands of people in dozens of cities across the nation walked out of work and school, held mock coronations, intoned the names of the Iraq war dead and held candlelight vigils to show their disapproval of President Bush as he was sworn in for his second term. Crowds were larger than organizers expected in some communities — more than 1,500 people took to the streets of New Orleans in a "jazz funeral of democracy," an event that took on the appearance of a lugubrious Mardi Gras ball, a raucous street protest, Halloween freak show and traditional New Orleans jazz funeral rolled into one. And in Denver, several hundred demonstrators were joined at the state Capitol by a group of women wearing witches' hats who chanted "We've been under a spell." The crowd cheered when they added "But we are waking up." But hundreds clashed with police in the nation's capital at the inaugural parade. Gary Gillespie, an activist in Baltimore, said he had planned to travel the 35 miles for the larger demonstrations, but decided "local action" was important. Many demonstrators said they deliberately avoided watching or listening to the inauguration. I pretty much did the later and I'm sure plenty of others did too! AVOID & IGNORED |

overtaxalready: Iiiiiinnnnnnn case you haven't noticed, you can't be on the web for more than 0.18 seconds before you stumble on anti-Bush stuff. Why? Because he is the dumbest, most incompetent, morally reprehensible president this country has ever seen. And most people smart enough to use a computer know that. |

MHD - I for one think the site is very creative, thank you for sharing! Rastro - I don't think that these people are apologizing for democracy at all. Most of them are just expressing their frustration with the results, not the process. I spent a good 15 minutes or so on that site and just didn't get that impression, but maybe I'm missing something. |

I completely agree with Strings. (And this was my impression when I first posted about this site a few months ago.) I was particularly touched by the posts from people in so many other countries -- including some in the Middle East -- saying things like, "we know you tried, and if you want to, you can crash at our place for a while." Their display of understanding is very friendly and reassuring.

The MAJORITY voted to re-elect. That's how elections work in this country. Love it or leave but please quit all the crying! |

singlemalt: actually, that's not how elections work in this country. The MAJORITY voted for Al Gore, but look at us now...mired in the worst presidency the world has known. |

I think it's so "cute" that the guys holding up their fingers in a "v" are NOT putting them like little horns coming out of the heads of the people in front of them..... I've been around my kids too much I guess. |

1 wk for that personal attack. Plus I'm weary of the spam posts, frankly. I'm no fan of the login name either. I must have been asleep at the wheel when I approved it. |

I knew I should have bet someone that a suspension was forthcoming for that particular poster. That and the Google IPO -- missed opportunities. <sigh> There are, by the way, two books coming out that are based on the sorryeverybody.com website. One features submissions from Americans, and the other features responses from around the world. Not sure when they are expected to be available. |
