This kid has had some popular success with songs like "The Remedy" and "You and I Both," so it's not like he's obscure, but after watching a number of his videos on Yahoo's Launchcast, I've got to say that this kid is a tremendous talent. Since he's so young, and relatively new to playing the guitar, you get the sense that he's only scratching the surface of his talent. If you have Launchast check out the videos on this page: http://launch.yahoo.com/ar-296616-videos--Jason-Mraz The interview is worthwhile as well. He talks about how he took up guitar after high school saying, "If I keep at it, when I'm 40 I'm gonna rock. If I'm 40 and I still suck well I guess I'll have to go back to college." By the way John Mayer's interview on Launchcast is also worthwhile. He's an interesting guy who's pretty funny too. |

Saw him open up for Bon Jovi , he had a tech glitch & he freaked , flat show walked off with no applause. Next time I saw him up @ Saratoga during racing season , figured the Skidmore girls would eat him up,not . He has very little stage appeal . I don't think his rocket is going to show . But my wife & I love the album. |

That's funny the concert footage from the video "Curbside Prophet" looks like he's putting on a pretty good live show. Check that video out--he's playing with John Popper and the crowd seems really into it. A lot of performers are lousy on the big stage when they first get their, but improve. Going from the coffehouse circuit to arenas is a huge adjustment. Beck for instance I heard was awful when he first toured and then the same person told me he was great live when they saw him a couple years later. Plus, aside from the tech glitch I would think that a Bon Jovi audience wouldn't be his best demographic. It seems to be an odd choice for an opener. |

I love his CD - it was in heavy rotation for me during Summer 2003. It's one of those CDs that you can listen to from start to finish without skipping songs. I don't think there's anyone that sounds quite like him out there - MAYBE Jack Johnson is similiar. |

Jack Johnson's an excellent comparison. I would make the same comparison. My wife and I honeymooned in Hawaii 2 years ago. Jack Johnson, being a local boy, got a lot of air play on the radio and in bars. What a talented guy he is. He quit professional surfing, after a serious accident, to fall back on being a musician. |

Hey Joe, Hendrix blew away the crowd waiting to see the Monkeys {well at least the parents}. |

Actually jet the exact opposite happened. The Monkee's wanted Hendrix but when the parents saw his wildman act , they freaked and demanded he be off the tour. Ya also have to remember that the parents you're talking about, were then the kids. I remember because I nearly went to see this show at Forrest Hills Tennis stadium (parents grounded me that week). Luckily enough a year later Hendrix came back to headline at the Singer Bowl, this show I saw. |
