Has anyone been recently? I read a review from last year on the Artful Diner and searched the archives here. Can't find anything recent. It seems that they had some service/food issues and I'm curious whether things have improved. We are planning dinner out next weekend with friends and was thinking of Papillon. Thanks!

Decent food but WAY overpriced for what you're getting. I'd recommend Arugala Care in SO or Celebrated Foods in Maplewood over Papillon any day.

Are you sure about Celebrated? I just ate there a couple of weeks ago. Just tried calling them and their answering machine picks up so they sound like they're still in business.

According to Chris, they've sold it to a n Italian Place that hopes to open by the end of the month. Meanwhile I am stuck with a $75 gift certificate that was purchased a week before they closed. Called to get my money back, but so far, no dice. How could they sell a gift certificate so soon before they closed???????Boy do I feel ripped off.

Another vote for Cafe Arugula over Papillon -- more consistently good food and service, but no liquor license.

Went to Celebrated Foods two weekends ago with a friend from Boston--raved to him about the food. It was all dark on a Saturday night, the patio in disarray, the inside looking like it was being demolished for new buildout. No sign on the door, nothing. How disappointing. How sad.

LL--It seems amazing that they would be so crass as to do that to you. After experiencing their hospitality for the last 7 years or so, I am even more disappointed that they would do that to you.

Yes, there is a new Italian place opening up where Celebrated was, I heard they were aiming for February 1st! I heard that Chris was still operating their catering business, but out of what kitchen? I'm so confused. Did they leave a note on their door saying that they closed?

I am just devasted. Celebrated is one of our favorite restaraunts. There isn't a need for another Italian place, Maplewood is already full of fantastic choices!!

Library Lady - why don't you call and see if they will honor the gift certificate for catering?

Cause for 75 bucks for catering I'd get 2 sandwiches. I don't want Italian either. I want my money back!!!! It was a week or so and they had to know that they were closing!!!!!

Papillon has good martinis, good food. Prices may be a bit higher than other places around, but when I can walk from my home to Papillon and back and not bother with the car, why would I tackle traffic to go somewhere else?

i'M SURE cHRISS AND eLLEN AT CELEBRATED will honor their obligation with more than two sandwiches. they have been a valuable asset to our town for years and I'm sure they will continue to be even with out the restaurant
