So deep that even Super Greyhound (Maya) can't leap it with a single bound!

Go, Maya! Hotsauce is sitting amongst the swaying palms. She can't decide if she feels jealous or smug. |

Lucky her. Anyone send her photos of our winter wonder wonderland so she can live vicariously? By the way Barb, great picture. |

Yes, Barb - it is an awesome picture. Where is her LL Bean Anorak? We took Hotsauce to a fenced baseball field at the local HS today. It was the first time I saw her really go - she had been recovering from her spaying - it was amazing. |

Wish I had taken pictures of Leo. This was his first major snowfall with us, and he had a BLAST in the snow!! And he loved eating it too! Too cute! |

It's actually hard to keep the coat on Maya when she wants to clown around. She pulls and tugs at it until the velcro releases and it becomes a cape! Besides, this was just a quick outing to off-load last night's dinner. |

Barb, Do you ever put booties on Maya, and, if so, does she keep them on? Sometimes the snow bothers Leo's paws and I've been thinking about getting him booties, but my vet told me he has a hard time keeping them on his dog. |

Apollo (all 85 lean pounds of him) had a blast running all over the place. He looked like a schooner on rough white seas, his head held high and everything from chest down beneath the surface, breaking through, sinking back in, then topping again, as he plowed through the backyards, ears back, tail acting as a rudder. And he had a grin as big as a canyon. Wish I had a pic of that also. |

Hi Dego Diva, Yes, we put booties on both dogs when we're going for a walk or they'll be out in the backyard playing for a while in really cold or snowy weather. We bought them from www.neopaws.com. They come with a very lengthy velcro ties (wraps around Maya's ankle 4 times) and rubber grips on the sole. I think they're made of neoprene, so the dogs' feet stay pretty warm. It's also pretty hard for the dogs to get the shoes off, but it can be done if you don't get the shoes on pretty snug to start with. If you look at a posting titled "Mem and Barb - This is for you!" in the Virtual Cafe board, there's a picture of both of the dogs (and us) outfitted for cold weather. Hope this helps. |

Debby, Take your dog up here to Okeeheelee Park. We have a brand new dog run. It's huge. One for smaller dogs and one for larger dogs. Covered cabanas, benches, water fountains, etc. It's really a beautiful park. The dog run is called Pooch Pines. |

Debby: No, he is a Golden, built for water and snow. Do Greyhounds even get to 85 lbs? Just kidding, but they are soooo skinny! |

Red is 80 pounds. He could get to 85 if he ate more, but his appetite seems to have a limit. Why do dogs love fresh snow so much? |

Tom, that is one big dog you've got. I saw you and Red on New Year's Eve in town, and I was going to stop and introduce myself, but I was completely loaded down with groceries. I figure I'll catch you some other time, when I'm not collapsing under the weight of Kings' finest.

Yes, please do introduce yourself. Sorry we missed each other. I rarely take him into town. We both needed a longer-than-usual walk that day. |
