Keep it up...if he gets tired enough, maybe he'll nod off, and we can finally have a break from his incessant posting. I wonder what Jeb would say if he knew how much time his bosom chum spent namecalling on internet message boards. |

Tom C- I heard Willy S gave this bit of advice to Straw mano a mano at a cocktail party he attended, he unfortunately didn't heed it. Gotta love that Straw, friend, confidant and advisor to the rich, famous and dead. |

I propose that they convey our President along the Avenue in one of those short school buses, sometimes used for students who are "challenged". |

I remember watching President Kennedy's Inauguration on black and white TV. My good friend was a West Point cadet at the time and marched at the head of the parade. A friend from Maplewood went to Reagan's first swearing in. A friend from Convent Station, formerly from Maplewood, went to the first Bush Inaugural. If Kerry had won, I would still be going to the Inauguration next week, since that is the bet I had with Michaela. |

I went to Jefferson's first inaugural. I didn't intend to, wasn't even thinking about it. But, you see, I happend to be staying at the same boarding house as Tom while I was on business in DC. I was having coffee in the breakfast room when Tom walked by. I asked where he was headed and he said to get sworn in as Pres. and did I want to come along. I said "sure". So Tom and I walked downtown. They swore him in. He said a few nice words about all of us being Federalists and all of us being Republicans, you know, the unity stuff. Then we walked back to the boarding house and had lunch. Nice day. |

Ed, Going to a Kerry inauguration because you had a bet hardly sounds voluntary. Look, I know this is a day of pomp and circumstance, and it's non-political, but I don't happen to feel like celebrating the continuation of the most incompetent, corrupt, and secretive Administration in U.S. history. I don't plan on going to DC and protesting or otherwise disrupting the party. But I don't agree with the implication that it would somehow be "classier" to join in the celebration. Have fun at the inauguration, but try to understand why people who vehemently oppose W's policies don't feel like next Thursday is a day to celebrate. |

The excitement continues to build. Marilyn picked up her dress from Oh So Dressy. I picked up my rented tux from Bradford. We overnighted the dresses for Michaela and Mariah to WDC. Reservations set at the farm in Maryland for en route down and back. My brother's crew is finishing up building the President's Reviewing stand and my brother's former employees at the Capitol are spiffing up the grounds - unfortunately the Capitol Visiter Center for which he was an architect, is not ready to open as originally planned. My brother (a Democrat) is making room in his tiny garage off an alley in the Capitol District for the Stratus (AKA the 'Bushmobile') and Michaela is securing an on street parking permit for her street in Georgetown. Some event tickets in hand; some enroute to us in Maplewood. Preparing for some cold weather and long waits in DC, but expect it to be worth it. Have to check out the cameras - digital and otherwise. Anyone planning to be in WDC this week feel free to private line me. |

I suspect some of these folks didn't go to any of the balls last time, or why load up on conspicious mentions this time? |

My #1 e-squeeze, The Wonkette, received the following Inaugural Ball comment from another admiring reader, and followed with ideas of her own: Reader -- "The names of W's balls piss me off. Freedom Ball? Independence Ball? How could you have fun at a party like that, even if Biz Markie is there? It's just like the names of W's military operations: "Iraqi Freedom"; "Enduring Freedom." What happed to cool names like "Rolling Thunder" and "Desert Fox"? Right or wrong, at least we could feel like we were kicking ." Wonkette -- If the question here is "how could you have fun at a party like that?" Well, you can't. And most people. You are packed in like sardines, the line for the bar is long, the drinks are short. The most fun you can have at these balls, is apparently, naming them. And we love answering a question with a question. Is there not a bit of irony in the titles of the balls? In that, with the exception of the CIC ball, the Patriot Ball, and the Stars and Stripes ball, they're all named after things the administration seems hell-bent on eliminating? Constitution, Freedom, Liberty, Democracy, Environment and Clean Energy? What role exactly do any of those have in current GOP policy? Perhaps they should come up with some new titles, to reflect the administration's position: The Unfunded Mandate Ball The Hell With International Opinion Ball The Indefinite Detainees Ball The Doctrine of Preemption Ball The Clinton Did It Ball The Legacy of the Crippling Deficit Ball Excellent. We have just one further suggestion: "The Abu Ghraib Electrodes Attached to Your Ball."..." -s. BTW, Ed: Have a swingin' time, you party animal... |

Jeb's more fun then George. With all that great parenting, all George and Laura could produce were daughters with alcohol problems. Now Jeb, his daughter likes the hard stuff. With all those great skills , I think the Bush family should write a parenting manual . |

Their daughters have alcohol problems because of some overly publicized college incidents?? And now they're bad parents I guess. Kind of a reach for someone with not much wingspan. Picking on them is like picking on Chelsea Clinton. I could make a joke about beauty and alcohol, but that would bring me to Uke's level of stature. |

How about Reagan? A divorcee with two dysfunctional families. Let's pick on his parenting, too. Or not. This is thread drift. Let's get back to making fun of Strawberry.

If you want to make the argument with Reagan's kids that dysfunctional families produce leftists -- and untalented ones at that -- I'll go there. |

You can't really pick on Chelsea Clinton cjc except to comment on her looks, wouldn't that be extremely shallow ?. Oh yea, I forgot who I was talking to. Can't blame you for trying to reach my level of stature, it would be upward mobility. |
