Yes! It does stink! I've been told that the smell comes from our Public Works. Rotting wood and other lovely things... I think there was a post about this about a month or two ago.

You beat me to it ... I was going to post this morning about it. The stank in A&P parking lot is disgusting. You have to hold your breath and run for your car. Our kindergarten is right there so I have to deal with the stink twice a day! Next, why does is STINK like BO in the corner of the train station where Joyce's coffee is? Every morning I think "God, I stink like BO" then, thankfully, I step outside and the stank dissapates. So, what, OR WHO, stinks? .... This is a Maplewood concern -- the BO. |

I wish the smell was limited to SO/MW but I smell it every night driving home. The smell hits just as I'm traveling eastbound on 78 and you get to the point where the local and express lanes split. Its there every night, is it possible the smell is from the river? |

The incredible stench in the Pathmark parking lot is the same as what you smell at the recycling depot. When it's very mild, it's really not so terrible, kinda woodsy or something, but yesterday it was almost overpowering. ACK!! |

The odor is from the compost pile at the South Orange DPW yard. The smell gets stronger when they turn or grind the leaves/logs. |

At least we have trees and leaves to compost. Your coworkers probably live in poured cement and rebar adjacent to other cement and travel around in tubes of cement to work in more cement and rebar structures. |

I could smell it this morning as I was walking down Oakview Avenue towards the train station. It definitely smelled like very ripe compost. |

"Your coworkers probably live in poured cement and rebar adjacent to other cement and travel around in tubes of cement to work in more cement and rebar structures." Yes. They're probably oblivious by now to the smell of human urine. |

Uggh - went out earlier this evening, and the smell hit me so hard I literally gagged! Not to be too graphic, but it smelled so much like vomit that I had to pull over and see if my dog got sick in the car. Gross!! |

The town needs to invest in Lime (the mineral, not the fruit)... it reduces the smell when it's added while turning the compost. |
