Does Matters Magazine (or anybody) do a 'Best of' type of thing like Time Out or the New York Press? I think it would be helpful to compile a list like that because I like:

Milk Shakes at Jay's Grille
Hot Dogs at Sid's (by Vaux Hall Bridge)
Pizza at Kings (Springfield near Maplecrest)
Beef Chow Mein at Lee Ho Fook's

Anyway... is there such a thing?

Draw Blood...?

Didn't Dave recently do something like this for best members of the township committee? FWIW, the Best of Maplewood would be a lot better than doing the Worst of Maplewood...

We’re still trying to put together a "Maplewood Idol" contest at H2TA. I was picking up ice cream at Ciao Bella in Irvington last week and the lobby is filled with annual awards for best this and that that they make.

Jamie.., Dave..., why not have an MOL Annual Maplewood and South Orange Awards Contest for best Pizza, Irish Pub, Cleaners, Food Market, Nail and Beauty Salon, Drug Store, etc., etc. ?

I love Jay's milk shakes (esp. chocolate!) -- and Cravings made a good chicken caesar salad!

Art, shouldn't there also be a "Best Performance Venue/Cafe That Serves Great Waffles" category as well?

Yes, absolutely!

I rather not blow our own horn, but we’ve come a long way in the past seven months. Things are going to really heat up as we begin to expand our food service. Art and I are pleased with the support we are receiving. I believe we are filling a much need void in providing for a small party place and entertainment venue for the community.

I think it's a great idea and I love Jay's milkshakes too but isn't Jay's in Vauxhall/Union? (for that matter I don't think Syd's is in Maplewood either).

Jay's is in Union, and a friendly place, with value for the money, if somewhat smokey and often reeking of tobacco.
