Me too!

My husband's the universal donor type: is it O+ or AB+? One of those. He donated for a friend's dad who was having bypass surgery years ago.

I'd have to lok that up, I haven't thought about that in years. Good question though. I know this parking thread has gone in many directions, but blood types? Well, either way I'll look it up now, so i'm glad you asked.

O- is the universal donor. AB+ is the universal acceptor. The idea is that you cannot receive foreign proteins, but you can accept the lack of them. A, B, and + are the proteins in our bloods.

I'm an O+. That means I can donate to A+, B+, and O+, but not to A-, B-, or AB-. (The - means lack of +.)

A+. My sons are AB+, so that means my husband must be B+ or AB+. (He's never been typed).

shh-

The universal donor is 0-; yet 0- can only receive 0- blood.

Tom you can also donate to AB+

Earl - The little card most tmes means nothing as a hospital is going to test your blood type card or no card if you need blood as a precaution. This is why I no longer have my blood type on my medica alert.
