Has anyone recently tried driving on the little strip on roadway known as Village Plaza lately? People park all over that street. They just throw on their hazard lights and pull to the right, or worse block in cars by pulling to the left. Several times I have seen traffic being blocked by cars left that were left unattended. I often see police drive down the street, and put on their lights, but this does nothing. The drivers go around the block, and come back and park in the same spot! I wish the police would begin to ticket these drivers. |

I've noticed that cars are just pulling up and double parking, even in front of an open space, on SO Ave in the village. No flashers, just stop!! This is the kind of self centered driving that I left in Jersey City, not to mention crossing (walking) traffic without looking. And don't get me started about the parked cars in the driveway of the parking lot of the SO train lot, along with the consruction and 6 W Orange shuttle busses. Ughhhhhh. |

On several occasions, I've seen a car parked illegally in front of the Wachovia Bank on S.O. Ave. while the driver goes in to use the ATM machine or actually go into the bank. Then, the car will make a u-turn on S.O. Ave and head east. The driver who gets the biggest jerk award is the one who was parked on Sloan St. next to Dunkin' Donuts. Then he backed-up out of the parking space in reverse down Sloan St. and turned around heading South. Jerk. |

Slight drift, but as good a place as any: Last night, I pulled into my driveway and into my garage. A car pulled up as I was leaving the garage and closing the door. He glanced at me, parked across the bottom of my drive and sat there. I went in the house, figuring he'd pulled over to look at a map or directions, etc. No. He turned off his car and went to my next door neighbor's house. Um, hello? Their driveway was cleared. Is there a reason you had to block my drive? He wasn't carrying a bag or pizza box, so I know it wasn't a food delivery. With a set that big, I'm surprised he can get his pants on. |

As far as Village Plaza - I frequent that street and am always frustrated by the amount of cars double parked. I did see a car towed ONCE, and last week I witnessed someone back into a car that was double parked, no damage for either party, fortunately. Greenetree - to contribute to your drift - I used to live across the street from a school on a one way street. People would ALWAYS park in front of my driveway, and then get mad at ME when I would ask them to move. I used to really get me angry, and the cops would rarely enforce anything. |

On another note, why don't folks stop at a STOP sign? The last thing you want to do is to apply sudden brakes on slippery streets when a smart alec decides to ignore the STOP sign. |

Mustt_mustt Funny you should say that. Not more than an hour ago my girlfriend was hit by a driver who didn't stop at a sign. (Or they did stop and just didn't see her coming) The driver actually asked her why she didn't stop! Maybe because she didn't have a stop sign. |

Friends, it's NJ. If you're going to live here, get used to people making up their own parking rules, not using turn signals, not stopping at stop signs, not turning on their headlights until well after dark. Some moron in an SUV (naturally) even passed me on the LEFT side while I was waiting to turn LEFT off of Jefferson the other day. |

Having lived in Hoboken, I've come to tolerate a wider array of parking styles. However, village plaza is a joke. I saw a policeman watch someone BACK into a spot. No ticket issued. The rules seem to be selectively enforced at best. |

Yesterday I saw a car attempting to back all the way out of the long ramp that leads on to Rt 78 West from Springfield Ave. |

(See above) Did I mention that he was very courteous and safety-conscious however, as he pulled to the left leaving just enough room for me to run my snowscraper along his car as I passed. I glanced in the rear-view mirror to see him get out of his car to examine the damage and he was struck by a fast-moving semi. I think by now that he must be a hood ornament somewhere in Pennsylvania. (ok I made all that up, -but I did see the guy backing up on the ramp). -I can dream can't I? |

Well, it happened. A ticket was issued on Village Plaza. Unfortunately 4 other cars pulled away to safety. I guess it's a start. Now if the police would just start ticketing everyday then maybe the people would try and find a parking spot. I guess it just doesn't seem fair to me. I drive around, and finally find a parking spot. I pay the overpriced meters. I walk to where I need to go, only to see 5 cars illegally parked. Then the police show up and everyone always gets away with it. I know that the day I give up and park wherever I like will be the day my car is towed. |

Mayor- Maybe you can toss the parking attendants into the duck pond along with the BOT & SODA. It's good to know that you have a vigilant eye on all. |

One of the most beautiful sights I've ever witnessed: A couple years ago, in Maplewood Village, a car did an illegal left into a parking space after someone had just pulled out. Right in front of a car waiting, legally with turn signal on, far enough back, to take it. After watching the "bad" car make several back and forth adjustments to fit correctly, the beat cop knocked on his window and made him leave. It was a beautiful thing. |

That was probably me! I used to do that all the time...(if they refused to move, I then gave them a ticket!) |

Yes, Matt. Mayor McCheese is indeed omniscient. Also onmipresent, omnivorous, and omifollicated. But enough about him... Let's talk about YOU. Do you drive? A car? A truck? A bus? A motorcycle? A tricycle? Have you ever been ticketed for illegal parking? DWI? Poor syntax? Insufficient gray matter? Taking a whack at me (BTW, it's "Soda" -- initial cap, the rest lower-case) is fine, have at it, kiddo. But lay off Trustee Rosner. He's outa your league. -s. BTW: Learn to respect those who actually work for the common good, and people might take you more seriously. |

And I didn't think you liked me S.O.D.A. Omifollicate? Is that even a word? Is that some sort of derivative of the word Foliate? You think I and like leaves or a pile of foliage?
