A fair number of those bottles are unbroken and unattended. It's kind of a half-full / half-empty sort of thing.

Bad choice in beer,if a thousand Heineken were to be scattered all over the highway, it would be a sin.

Heineken? American-marketed pisswater. I'm not a huge fan of Grolsh (though I do love watching a girl's lips when she says it). But Heineken? ugh. The only sin would be that someone would have to clean it up.

Since coming to the US I always miss those beer crates. Easy to carry and great bottle protection. Not to mention that they make great seats and step stools.
And they are part of an easy refund/recycle system.

I had a question about a home improvement issue & went to a pro website to post.

The newbie instructions suggested that putting the word "beer" in the title would attract more attention.

So, I entered "Beer used to mix grout". Got lots of immediate responses, including one Pro who was relieved to know that it was an attention-getter and that I did not waste perfectly good beer.

Does anyone else remember when Grolsh came in bottles with a cork and a lever hold down mechanism. To me that was always the great appeal of that brew.

The I discovered Guinness and everything changed. :-)

Anybody follow any of the links on that site? Holy Mackerel.

I must agree with Bobkat ... Guinness is a life-changing experience. Should start a new thread on beer.

Bill - do you mean the ads, or the other jokes? JumboJoke is a great site for a daily lift. But some of the ads are a little... strange.

Grolsch still comes in the flip-tops. Best way outside of a kegging system for homebrew.

See Soapbox for recycling instructions on the green glass.

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services.

The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000. Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. Yes, that is 80 million. The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.0000188.
Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners. Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

Fact: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand. Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.

Bobkat,

Grolsch comes in both types - captop, and the traditional flip top. The flip top is a thicker glass designed for higher pressures associated with bottle conditioning for brew.

Ms. Avery - all alcohol delivery systems have some merit but you gotta love the mixed signals you send your body with a run & coke. High fructose sugar and a blast of caffeine followed by a generous portion of EtOH.

Rum: Barcelo Anejo
Beer: Presidente
Third base: A-Rod.

Are you picking up the theme?

I guess I would prefer the rum "buzz" over the pot belly beer brings upon consumption. Also, beer hangovers are simply disgusting, and to remedy a rum hangover a simple shot will do.
Homerun: Biccardi wins in my field.
Are you picking up what I am throwing down?

Hangovers are for amateurs or for people who drink the cheapo stuff.

I prefer the pot belly to the kate moss heroin junkie look.

wow, sir, that sure is one extreme to the other. What ever happened to moderate drinking and avoiding cliches?

Now, your Guinness only has about 160 calories for a pint. Your Bacardi has about 110 per shot, and that doesn't include what you add (coke, dacquiri fixins etc.).

Now, I'm not looking to cast aspersions or anything, but it seems to me that all forms of EtOH can contribute to various weight gains.

Lets all be friends, now.
