Susan Happersett, drawing and painting

Roy Kinzer, painting and mixed media

Ronald Ridgeway, painting and mixed media

Ken Weathersby, painting

Curator’s Statement:

Happersett, Kinzer, Ridgeway and Weathersby, each respectively embrace math, maps and mazes as the foundation in creating their personal pictorial space. They share the threads of constructivism and geometric abstraction and cross the bridge from our contemporary culture back through history.

Susan Happersett ‘s elegant visualizations of growth and decay patterns, and the Fibonacci sequence uncover a sublime connection to nature and math.

Roy Kinzer’s luminous revelations of light, color and rhythm embody his aerial landscape works. The powerful ambiguity of calmness and strength, as well as technology and traditional painting, resound in his fractal patterns of nature.

Ronald Ridgeway ‘s layered surfaces and underlying maps serve as gestural feelings, which unravel time, place and circumstance. They are historical artifacts of the present.

Ken Weathersbys’ paintings of mazes simultaneously challenge us to solve them, while absorbing us in their entirety as an icon of visual logic.
