Mmmmm...thanks for posting the new menu, Mem. Gotta get over there this week for sure. Haven't tried the braised beef oxtails yet, but just thinking about Chef Jesse's collards & cabbage makes my mouth water...Damn! What does he do with them to make them so amazingly delicious??? Never thought I'd like collard greens, but I can't live without them now! |

mem - what does new menu mean? I was under the impression that the menu changed every day. Will that still be the case? Half the reason i haven't tried H&S yet is because every time i call, he's not making one of the things that people have raved about that i'd been wanting to try. |

This is the menu I got yesterday. It does change everyday, and he sends out emails periodically. |

... much to his credit, Jessie makes everything fresh each day. Therefore, if, or when he runs out of something during the evening, that's it. He doesn't try to slap something else together last minute just to fill in the gap. Everything he makes is specially prepared. You really have to love a guy with this much pride and professionalism in what he presents to his customers. BTW, we invited Jessie to cater one of his special Cajun meals for us to go with an evening of Blues at H2TA. He loves a good Blues Band, so we’re thinking of selling tickets and putting together a package deal some Sunday night in February. We would love to get some input on the suggestion... |

Yes, as Art says, Jesse makes everything fresh daily. This is why the menu changes and is also why he runs out of certain items early. He is also open to hear menu item requests and will try to get them on an upcoming menu.

When I spoke with Jesse last week he said he's going to double his rib order with his supplier so he won't run out as early on that popular item. |

Art, yes please, sounds like a fabulous idea! Is there an e-mail notification list for H2TA? Would love to get on it. Love the blues and this food sounds wonderful. Make sure there's fish on the menu for those of us that don't eat meat! Thanks |

Had the ribs last night for the 1st time. A nice size portion of tender ribs with the meat falling off the bone. The bbq sauce was outstanding. With 2 sides and very delicious corn bread, all for about $15...I was a happy camper. |

Thanks, Art. I haven't forgotten either. Couldn't wait for the food, however. Took out from Heart and Soul last Friday and it was as good as it sounded here on MOL. My husband had the ribs and thoroughly enjoyed them, meat falling off the bone. I don't eat meat, so I had the Blackened BBQ Honey Mustard Salmon, which was to die for. The collards were yummy and the yams were delicious. Corn bread was really good too. However, if your a big fan of corn bread I would suggest ordering extra, 'cause I wanted way more than the one little "loaf" they give you. Can't think of a better way to pass an evening in February than with more of that food and some blues to go along. Dying to get a taste of that gumbo. Just hope it's not the 18th through the 21st 'cause we're going out of town. Oh, and I found H2TA website, so I'll continue to check in. |

we went to Heart and Soul last night. it was all we imagined and more. It seemed like a quiet night for Jesse, so we got the pleasure of his company for quite a while. We've already made a reservation to go back. I don't know what took us so long!!

We finally got there Friday night. It was absolutely amazing. Everything we ordered was wonderful and the portions are very generous. I had the turkey wings, the meat was incredibly flavorful and so tender it fell right off the bone. My husband had the catfish and loved it. All the sides were great as well, I'm thinking I have to go back and just get a bunch of sides and some of the mouthwatering cornbread. Yum!!! Pippi, lol, I don't know if was that Jesse was having a quiet night, or the fact that we stayed there 1.5 hours past closing! I looked at my watch when we left and went "whoa..." Can't wait to go back, so glad we made reservations to look forward to. |

mem - I had the braised short ribs (mmmmmmm) with the candied yams and collards. I wanted the oxtail I'd read about here, but it wasn't on the menu. I was not disappointed with the ribs. We got an order of mac & cheese for the table. Notehead had the turkey wings...everything was amazing and Jesse and his wife were so nice. counting the days till we go back.... |
