It's the annual Saint Patrick's Day preparation, if you please. It suits some of us quite well to have it, and it's dead crafty of St James's Gate to support a pipe band. IMHO.

2 way street, really, as the Pipe Band supports The Gate as well!

Isn't St. James Gate a British establishment, though? Forgive me, but I'm new to town ......

Than why is it named after a street in London (on which Prince Charles lives ...)?

It's named after the street in Dublin where Guinness is made.

Now, faith an' begorrah, why would they be havin' an event with beer and wine after the beginnin' o' Lent, when all us good Irishmen have given up the Guinness and the Smithwick's til after Easter?

Bill P, A true Irishman would never give up the beer!! We'll give up the wife and kids before we give up the beer. What were you thinking?

If you like the pipes you've got to hear this band, they are great.

Just thought I'd bump this one to the top, since the event is on Sunday. There will be entertainment & the pipe band plans on playing around 3:30. Hope to see you there!

My friend was just reviewing the "rules" of lent. According to her source, whatever it is that you give up for the lenten season neeed not be given up on Sundays - because they are considered Feast days.

Go figure! I would assume that's why the pubs are most crowded right after mass on Sunday.

I was in town yesterday, and since the patrons were spilled out onto the sidewalk with their beers, I'm assuming it was a big success
