A Once-in-a-Lifetime Day of Celebration and Vision
Dear Fellow Musicians and Parents,
You may have heard about our upcoming project, Two Towns in Harmony, which will come to fruition on July 3, 2005 on Flood’s Hill in South Orange. This project has been developing since March of 2003 and has gained tremendous momentum in the past six months.
A successful grant application by the South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition to the American Composers Forum has resulted in funding Composer Janet Albright, to write a piece of music inspired by these two remarkable towns!
The performers will be members of our communities and various local choral and instrumental groups, young and old, amateur and professional. The concert will also feature a Children’s Choir and Youth Choir.
I am serving as the Children's and Youth Choir Coordinator for the project and I would like to invite you, your students and your children/youth to participate in this community-building process.
The Children's Choirs (Grades 3-5) and Youth Choirs (Grades 6-8) will play an important part in this project. Young people in Grades 9-12 are encouraged to participate in the Adult Choral Ensemble. We will be holding a kick-off rehearsal for the Children and Youth on Monday, February 7th at Prospect Presbyterian Church. See the attached schedule for specifics.

Grants have been provided by: The American Composer's Forum, Puffin, Fraentzel and Essex Co. Art Council and many residents of the Two Towns. Contributions can be made by check to the Community Coalition on behalf of this project by writing Harmony on the memo line.
