Sept. 2000

quote:

While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein.

Documented proof of a longterm plan by the Vulcans to invade Iraq. Uncovered by none other than Monty Python's Terry Jones.

This has been mentioned by others in the past, an attic search will bring up posts from llama, andrew and others. I thought I mentioned it myself at some point in the past.

I hate to make the connection because it's really out of proportion, but it kind of reminds me of back in the days when Hitler had layed out his 'visions' pretty clearly in Mein Kampf, but society never really read it and considered it until it was to late.

Does anyone really think that an administration rife with incompetence, that is clearly the most maladroit since Carter, could actually have a plan? That gang of spendthrift draft dodgers seems to make things up on the fly.

Besides it's one hell of a leap from the gulf to Mein Kampf.

Brian Lehrer described the policy as "under-reported" on WNYC today in his interview with Jones, who's plugging his latest book. NeoCons wrote it before Dubya won the first time. My bet is that he needed Daddy to explain it to him.

-s.

BTW: Jones' new book is a critique of Newspeak in our time, "At War With The War On Terror".

Well, that's disturbing. The neocons are planning Festung America while the Chinese are busy signing oil deals with every oil producing nation that will have them - and that would be most of them because the Chinese don't bring baggage, just business.

I didn't see too much mention of economic strength in the neocon paper. Perhaps they should be reminded that military power flows from economic power and not vice versa. It is extremely uncommon for a lesser economic power to prevail militarily over a greater power.
