The News Record has the design for the new police station on the cover today...it looks fine to me but I wondered if money was no object, what design would you like to see? I thought of a couple...

Re: Suggestion 1 - Erecting a mausoleum at the site adjacent to the former funeral parlor is inspired. Assuming that solar reflective panels can be installed in the reflective dome and the surrounding columns can be used as cell towers in lieu of the proposed country club site, this design could be a real winner. Imaginative use of adjacent section of the park which is prone to flooding as a reflective pool is ingenious. But, where would you put the parking? Re: Suggestion 2: Damaged facade, even prior to occupation, is bound to raise cries of outrage from residents and businesses along and adjacent to Springfield Avenue that the Town is looking to comment negatively on the perceived dilapidation of the surrounding neighborhood. Police may complain that they don't want to leave one crumbling structure for another. Didn't the previous plan for the police station receive criticism for not having enough windows? Besides, where would you put the two sets of bathrooms/locker rooms? |

OK Joan...valid concerns...here are a couple more design ideas then... the first one is a classic..the second shows the community's openness to all those who have migrated here from Brooklyn...

Parkbench87: The second one was leveled, back in the 1950s I like the concept of adapting a stadium design. While true Brooklynites (especially those from Crown Heights) might view a true rendition of their famous landmark as a constant reminder of the infamous defection to California, the design would enable the combined police/recreation departments use which was proposed for the ill-fated Verison site, the many windows would allow for good light and ventillation and there would be plenty of secure space in the enclosed yard for parking and a Sally Port. Now if we could just attract a really good deli for the food concession. |
