I spoke to the owners in January, and they will be closed for the whole month of February renovating. It seems that Jennifer and Dana are broadening their reach, and will be opening two new stores. The Maplewood store will be taken over by new owners, who they said have great plans for the place.

The blueprint for the store's operations is a success, hence the branching out/franchising.

Milk Money has served me well in the past years, and now that daughter number one moving into the tween phase, we are spending more time at Teenage Wasteland.

I just spoke with Jennifer outside of school fifteen minutes ago and told her there was an MOL post. She asked me to write that new and fabulous things are happening with the store and to thank everyone for their support and their patience (and theres not even anything in the store that fits me). Wilkanoid is correct..they are franchising and dont want the store model to change dramatically. The other franchise that is close to opening will be in Montclair.

You're not allowed to talk to Jennifer.
No wonder I never see you anymore.
Hey, I never see her anymore either.

Hmmm...

And I thought you were my friends.

I bet you we can find something in Wasteland for you Hank. Like a mechanic shirt with the name "Joe" embroidered on it. I almost got that one for Mr. Shh. Check it out!

shh,

Im sorry you feel that way...maybe I can make it up to you, like with a new pair of socks.

I couldnt wear a shirt with the name Joe on it..its not my name. But do they carry any guayabera shirts? I think I want one of those for the warmer weather.

Wilkanoid: Where is Teenage Wasteland located? I'd love to check it out.

What exactly is it? I heard that it's a secondhand clothes shop for teenagers...is this correct? (My daughter wouldn't be seen dead in Abercrombie/Gap type clothes....she's out of her Goth stage now but still likes unusual clothes and quite happy to wear vintage/secondhand if they're not 'mainstream' clothes).

On the other hand my 16 year old son likes Quiksilver, Billabong, Nike, Adidas etc.

(Actually - what exactly is 'Milk Money'? I guess it's not a place where one would get milkshakes and sodas?!!!

Hank, just thinking of new socks makes you automatically forgiven.

I have no freakin' idea what a guayabera shirt is and I would imagine you wouldn't wear a shirt with the name Joe on it. (I was joking, BTW)

Miss L, it's on Ridgewood next to the pizzeria, right before you go from Mwood to SO. Your daughter would probably love the store, they have a combo of funky vintage, newer stuff, handmade jewelry and just a lot of fun merchandise. Your son might even find what he likes there too.

I spoke to Jennifer this past weekend. She lives one street over from me. She sold the business and is working for the company she sold to. They are opening Milk Money franchises. Tell everyone in Montclair to look for the new store there. This will be a very good thing for everyone.

Miss L Toe, yes, Teenage Wasteland is a consignment shop for teen clothes. It's terrific. They have interesting other things, too. They even have some locally made jewelry. The woman there told my daughter she might be able to sell stuff my daughter makes. Your daughter will probably love this place.

Teenaged Wasteland (like Milk Money) is in the little strip of stores on Ridgewood Road in Maplewood, near the South Orange border.

The teens and pre-teens (and some post-teens, too) love it!

I talked to Kimberly, one of the new proprietors, and Milk Money will be re-opening for business on Wednesday, March 2nd.

You can bring clothing to consign next Wed-Sat from 12-3.
