I'm used to sitting next to women who are doing their hair or makup on the train, and it does not really bother me. But today I was a bit taken aback when the woman next to me started applying underarm deoderant. Is it just me, or is that a bit much for the train? |

Ewwww. Too much for anywhere except a private bathroom, dressing room or locker room. |

as the commercial says, "Raise your hands if youre Sure!" did she shave her pits first? I once was next to a guy at a red light who was shaving his face with a cordless shaver...I guess its been done on the train too.

Why can't people get up 30 seconds earlier and do it at home? |

I agree that this is too much. I've been wondering lately when some woman starts this grooming thing on the train, what would be her reaction if I pulled out a portable electric shaver and used it. If she didn't object I am sure most of the other commuters would. |

Wow. That's a new one. I have seen the electric shaver before. Wasn't thrilled. I was kind of grossed out last week by a woman slurping her milk and cereal on the train. She was next to me so it was in 5.1 digital surround. I can't decide if I didn't like the idea of the cereal or just the slurping part. |

could you tell if it was some healthy cereal option or was she quickly sucking down Fruit Loops or Sugar Smacks? Was it in the little individual boxes that you can allegedly cut open and use as a bowl or an actual bowl? |

it was a tupperware bowl and possibly honey o's. Had it been in the box....well....then all bets are off - because that is a travel pack. |

Also, wouldn't you need five people all around you eating the same cereal at exactly the same rate, with one more sitting below you with a really big bowl to get true surround sound? But seriously, ew. On both counts. Especially if the woman was eating cereal with one hand and applying the deodorant with the other. I realize people get comfortable after spending a lot of time in one place, but the minute somebody starts flossing on NJ Transit it's time to call the cops. Emily Post would, I believe, pull out a revolver and shoot our deodorant-applying friend dead. With her pinky held up, of course. |

toenail clipping I believe would be the topper...cant blame people for not wanting to use the restrooms on the train though. |

Even fingernail clipping gives me the willies. I used to have a boss who would do that in his office with the door open and it just grossed me out. I don't really want to be in earshot or view of someone's personal hygiene routine unless I'm in the locker room of the gym (and even then I don't like it but it's at least appropriate behavior for that setting). |

I would have to agree, the toe nail clipping is the worst. You try to make the time schedule, and tend to domestic duties everyday, and make the deadline, on a daily basis, after awhile, you fall behind. My best input, don't pay attention to them; read the paper, close your eyes ( for a quick nap) or go over your notes. Sometimes, being a human has it's pitfalls. |

After listening to too many people laugh and talk to others (and on cell phones) at outrageously loud decibels, I finally started bringing an ipod with me on my commute. Wouldn't keep me from noticing the deoderent woman, but it does help to blanket out the sounds of dinner being eaten on the train (so many people do this in the evening traveling out of hoboken!) and other loud noises. The ipod has made a huge difference in the quality of my train commute. |
