Marian...is Thai massage the same thing as Shiatsu massage? By your description it sounds similar, if not the same. |

A little over a year ago I think it was around $70 for an hour and $45 for half an hour at Bio Skin Care. |

PS...Jitka's facials are even better than her massages, if you like that sort of thing! |

Mem, I knew from the title of your post what it was all about. I had the same experience (minus the hot stones) there a year or so ago. I remember thinking all through it, okay, so this is something new to be endured, then it will be over. I've had enough professional massages to know what to expect, and it wasn't what I got. I've never set foot in the place again. A few weeks after that, Redbook ran an article about women being sexually abused at spas and what actions to take. I kind of laughed it all off, and decided I would just "vote with my feet" and never return, but that guy is really pushing the limits. Anyone else out there find it kind of violating? |

I remember last spring or late winter a poster spoke about her terrible experience with a massage at Kim's. (Not much different than Mem's) I thought to myself I'd never get a massage there, yet just a short time later I had a horrific experience at Nail House. It's terrible. When you're feeling most vulnerable you get taken advantage of. I remember (after reading my post from MAy) that my back had been killing me and when I walked in to Nail HOuse for a mani/pedi appt. I saw the sign about the massages and thought it would be a great opportunity to feel a little better. They sucked me in. I'm thinking Mem felt similarly—she had a stressful week, boom, it's easy, you're there. Don't have to wait 2 weeks for an appt. Let's vow ladies, never again! |

I think this could be a great adult blog. What exactly happened, when, and what did anyone know? Sounds like a lot of readers here already know. Pls don't keep the rest of us on the edge of our cyberspace chairs staring into MOL threads holding our breath for the next butt massage post. |

Thank you, I am not alone in this bizarre experience. I kept thinking that this guy thought that I was some "desperate housewife" looking for some "therapy". Ugh. It was also my first professional massage by a male. Sorry if this is too much info, but this guy was trying to scrub my butt crack with this steaming hot "volcanic rock" (god knows where else these rocks have been) and when I told him to stop he acted insulted. Yikes. Then, when I was finally liberated from the torture, there was a man next in line after me, and I couldn't help thinking that this next customer was going to get those unsanitary rocks shoved in his butt as well. Maplewood's steamy underside, right under our noses.

Shhh- thank you very much - I am right with you on voting with our poor, under-massaged feet and over massaged butts. Cheers my friend - happy weekend. |

Sarah - I think this post will help others - walk in massages should NOT end up as violation. So, thanks Dave and Jamie. This board will save others from butt abuse.

mem, you're killing me! Sorry if this is too much info, but this guy was trying to scrub my butt crack with this steaming hot "volcanic rock" (god knows where else these rocks have been) and when I told him to stop he acted insulted. Yikes. Any one of these phrases would probably get me off the table in a hurry...scrubbing my butt crack, volcanic rock...but maybe I'm just a prude.

I hear "Heavenly Hands" is a great massage because that's all they do. They are located above Freeman's Fish Market in the Maplewood Village. |

Reflective - so you want to live vicariously through the torture of others? OK - here's a blow by blow (or stroke by stroke) account: The man was dressed in a tennis outfit. I was face down in nothing but my undies and a sheet over me. The sheet didn't last long, he kept pulling my undies down, I kept trying to pull them back up, all the while he is huffing and puffing like he just ran a mile. He kept saying, "Is good? Is very good? Is very very good?, no matter what my response. After the rocks were removed from my butt crack, he rubbed them on my feet and then placed one each in my armpits. Now what is THAT supposed to do - make the rocks even more of a science project of mixed body fluids? Then he tried to put them in my hands! This may sound funny but this is what actually occurred. It will be a while before I go for any massage, if ever I guess.

Eww. I am so skeeved. I would definitely complain to them Mem. (If you haven't already.) AT least after my Nail House Horror Show I told them point blank it was the worst service I had ever received. I hope you didn't tip. Who did the massage? |
