for insuring that the 10 sheets of 11x17 photo paper got to me safely:
it came in a 20 x 26 x 9 inch box - filled with bubble packs. |

Just what everyone needs, a plethora of plastic packaging. Guess Amazon isn't too concerned with the environment! |

I don’t mind the packing so much. I understand that it’s cheaper for Amazon to use three standard sizes. This saves on having an actual human need to pick the correct box / packing material. The thing that kills me is that my girlfriend, apparently preparing for the shipping event of the decade, saves most of it. We have closets full of this stuff. I cringe every time I hear “Oh, this is a good box.” I am confident that if the French ever want the Statue of Liberty back, I have enough boxes to ship it to them.

Brett ... I used to do this. My husband went into a tizz once and INSISTED that all of the packing peanuts get thrown out. (I think a bag of them had burst in the attic or something. ) And then - two days later, I kid you not - he needed to ship something. We had NO BOXES and NO PEANUTS. He had to go to Mailboxes ETc. or something and buy a box and packing peanuts. I have to tell you, I laughed my a&& off. |

Dave - I had ordered more - but they must have came from different warehouses. The other box size was bit more acceptable. At least they didn't use peanuts. |

Brett- Do not belittle your girlfriend. Or you will end up in Cathy's husband's shoes. I relented and threw out my good box and bubble wrap collection when they filled up two rooms in the basement & the new boxes would have to be stored in the laundry area. Parting with them wasn't so bad; that's when I realized that I end up at MBE for shipping anyway, so I just pay them to box it. Over-priced cost of box: $6.95 Highway robbery charge for bubble wrap: $3 Not having your spouse wrap you in your own packaging collection and stuff you in a closet: priceless. |

For what its worth - you can recycle the peanuts by bringing them to Mailboxes. I always feel less guilty for having bought something that was shipped in them and they are always happy to have them. |

A good way to get to get rid of all those boxes is to store them in your basement before a plumbing disaster causes the basement to flood. That's what prompted us to throw out all of our boxes, but boy was it a mess. |
