Do the delivery people get to keep the delivery charge? I've ordered from there a couple of times and each time they seem surprised that I tipped them. I know they charge $1.75 for delivery and was curious to know who keeps it.

Thanks!

I've gotta say - the look of Jay's has always turned me off to trying it, but I've heard really good things about it here on MOL, so maybe I should. What kind of food do they have? Is it basically like a diner?

Have never been inside Jays. Actually, I've only seen it from across a parking lot on Millburn Avenue.

Not sure about the inside set up, but in terms of food, they have:
burgers, wraps (I often make 2 lunches out of them) , hot and cold subs/sandwiches, salads, hot platters (i.e. shrimp in a basket, 4 pc chicken dinner, etc), appetizers (mozz. sticks, onion rings, etc), really awesome milk shakes, and a large breakfast menu (available all day).

They often have coupons in those ValPak envelopes, but as I live in West Orange, I do not get them. At my school, we order from them 1-2x a week. They are prompt with the delivery of our lunch, which is important because we only have a certain time period to eat lunch. I like the fact they open at 7 am, and delivery starts at 8. I usually call in our lunch order around 10:15, and specify a delivery time.

Unfortunately, most of the other food places that deliver do not even open until 11 or 11:30, which is too late for us to order and have it arrive by the start of our 11:20 lunch period.

I highly recommend their milkshakes and their chicken caesar salad is very good too.
