Fabulous lineup! But no times given as far as I can see. Are all the concerts at 8 pm? |

These concerts are not "good, considering this is little old Maplewood." These concerts are damned good, as they would be in any location. Glen Velez and Lori Cotler blew us away last year. |

Great stuff...! Jaimie, do you know whether Few & Fefer will be performing as a duet or whether they will have a rhythm section? |

Bobby Few ... whoa! Since high school, I have had a bunch of albums by the Frank Wright Quartet in which few was the pianist. Wild, indespensible stuff, especially the "Last Tango in Nancy" album. I forgot who the bassist was, but the drummer was Mohammed Ali, the brother of Rashid Ali (Coltrane's last drummer). Imagine.... Bobby Few playing 5 minutes from my house. Thanks Jamie. Can you bring in Cecil Taylor for next year's lineup? |

Bobby Few on the Wright Quartet... Yeah man! The ESP crowd... he also played on dates by Noah Howard, Alan Silva,... great stuff! And since we're on it, how about Few on Ayler's "Music Is the Healing Force of the Universe"... |

Yeah... good old ESP Records... I still have all of my vinyl on labels like ESP, BYG/Actuel, Hath\Hut, etc. One of these days, it's Ebay-heaven for those puppies. Ever since I saw a Don Pullen/Milfor Graves album go for $60 on Ebay, I have been lookin gat my jazz collection with a new respect. (I have that album, never played). |

Yeah. I hear you: I'm glad I still have the first H. Tapscott from 1969... a rare jewel. Will you be going to this B. Few concert? |

Yes, I will definitely go. I can assure you that my wife will stay home. She has ever since she saw me play with Borbetomagus, swinging a vacuum cleaner hose! |

LOL. Hey, vacuum hoses make cool sounds when you swing them. I just put Don Pullen on after that mention. Pullen is amazing. I've seen him live at various NYC venues, one of which was in a small jazz club in the village and there was no cover(!). |

Heady stuff..Pullen, Ayler, Milford Graves.. fantastic! I studied for awhile a long time back with Roswell Rudd, one of the guys on that scene waay back-- he's still active, in fact he reunited with Archie Shepp for some shows not too long ago. |

Roswell Rudd used to guest with NRBQ quite frequently (He met their Keyboard player Terry Adams when they were both in Carla Bley's band.).These days NRBQ's horn section is made up of members of Sun Ra's Arkestra. Terry and John Gilmore just did a duet album, now thats something this concert series should consider. |

My old screen name (Ros) is a small homage to Roswell Rudd and Frank Rosolino, both trombonists Anything with Terry Adams is worth checking out... I think the duet you might be referring to is with Marshall Allen(also of Sun Ra fame)? John Gilmore checked out a few years back. (John Coltrane always credited Gilmore as a big influence) OK Jamie--Terry Adams and Marshall Allen- now make it happen |
