It will be Bo. I can't see Vonzell's votes going to Carrie. |

Bo will take it but does anyone think he is just mediocre like I do? He just looks like a rock star but he doesn't deliver all that well |

I think they both were absolutely awful. Neither could sing on key. No power. Totally blah. Bring back Vonzell. |

Carrie. She looked good all season and tonight it looked like someone went mad with a crimper on her hair. I like Bo. |

Thanks! I was hoping for Bo to win this week, but Vonzell will be the first AI CD I will purchase. |

really? Vonzell huh? I was hoping for Bo but then again ... whatever! The show was such a hype-filled crappy crap piece of doody. I hate when they have the group sing-along queerness. It's so embarassing that I have to switch the channel. |

I did think that the special guest medleys were a nice touch - a decent variety of musical styles. |

It was 2 hours of program filler (or crapy crap piece of doody...take your pick!). I was a Carrie fan - yeehaw! ps. Vonzell sings flat. She sang flat again tonight. Flatty flat flat.

I was hoping Bo would win...not as good of a voice as Carrie but a much better performer and more exciting and interesting to watch than Carrie. Watching Carrie try to get through a ballad...well let's just say I'd rather watch paint dry. Either way, both Bo and Carrie have it made and their lives are now changed forever. Celebrity, fame, money, recording contract. ffof: just part of Skynard died in the plane crash, most notably being Ronnie VanZant. There were some surviving members. |

How cool was it to see black people on stage singing "In Birmingham we love the Governor, now we all did what we could do" --a line that honors George Wallace? Not cool at all. History gets lost in the pablum of pop culture. (And, yes, I am aware there is some debate about the intent of those lyrics, but it is pretty obvious what they meant at the time). |

2 min with Tivo. Watched Lost and Alias then just went to the end, saw Carrie singing (way off key) and turned it off. I figured Carrie would win, I'm sure Bo will do just fine. |

yes, thank God for Tivo (well, DVR with Comcast). The fluff was nauseating. I think Carrie and Vonzell need some coaching and they will both be excellent singers. They have the pipes, but they always seem to hit at least one clunker in each song. |

You're killing me, Frodo. Bo and Skynard was the highlight. You can't do Idol without TIVO.

That's my sole purpose in life, Guy. All personals are political. I actually like the song, politics aside; thought Bo was a little raspy and flat in places. |

Al Kooper paints a pretty negative picture of some members of Skynard in his biography (even though he still thinks they are a great band). When he was producing their 1st album, he brought along a Stratocaster that Jimi Hendrix gave him. One of the guitarists started playin it and Al said, "Be careful with that, it was owned by Hendrix". The Skynard member dropped the guitar and said, "Eww, I got ****** (Horrible slang name for African-Americans) on me". At that point Ronnie Van Zandt said, "As**ole, ya better pick that up and get some more on ya". After reading that it's hard to listen to them the same way. |

Wow, that of Skynard band? Ruben Studdard sang the same song Bo performed with the band 2 years ago. I thought Bo was great. I was hoping for him to win over Carrie. More personality and more entertaining! Carrie has a great voice, but I find her very boring on stage. Carrie's duet with the country singer was also good. She's better stick with country, it's her genre. Vonzell was FABULOUS last night. Her duet with Billy Preston was awsome and the audience showed her love for it. The worst performance was that Michaela chick and Lindsey performing with Babyface. Poor Babyface, they completely DESTROYED that song (one of my faves). What a HOT MESS! Otherwise, the last 45 minutes was the most entertaining of AI.

Skynyrd is certainly contradictory politically, like so many in the entertainment industry. They trashed Neil Young and his anti-racist songs (Alabama and Southern Man), yet they also revered him, even wearing his T-shirts in concerts. They were buddies with Wallace (he loved this song), yet they also at times stood up for liberal causes. Neil Young is no less schizy--he actually sent them Powderfinger before he recorded it, sent them a few other songs over the years, and did a small tribute to Van Zandt in a live concert just after the plane went down. Yet, in On The Beach he writes off "some people been talking [him] down" which was as much to LS as it was to CSN. Bottom line--we pay them to be musicians and artists, not political theorists, and while I am not thrilled with some of their views, I still like the music. Kinda like my right wing ex-bro-in-law who could not help buying Bruce Cockburn cds even though he cringed everytime he really listened to the words. |

A history lesson on Skynard. Gotta do some research on them. Interesting facts. When Michaela sang I had to run to another room. Babyface looked scared.
Poor Babyface. The guy was mortified. Glad he pulled it out at the end and drowned them out. |

I still like their music, I just wouldn't want to hang around with em. Ya also gotta admire their ballsiness. They once opened a show for Eric Clapton and before the show Ronnie Van Zandt went to pay his respects. Supposedly he said, "I just want you to know that you're god to us. If it wasn't for you we wouldn't be where we are today but I'm also here to tell you that were gonna blow you off that stage and after were finished you won't wanna play". Guy had brass ones. Neil Young is a real enigma, their was a brief period when he was a real Reagan fan. He looks like a backwards hick but I hear he has real estate holdings all over Manhattan and I believe he's one of the majority shareholders in Lionel Trains. |

I became convinced years ago that there are at least three Neil Youngs out there walking the streets. One is a leftist, another a real estate mogul, and the third a twisted burnout. And all three can move from country to folk to acid rock to technopop from one album to another. Strange strange guy--and he comes up with some of the weirdest rhymes. |

So hows this for holy ignorance. I spent a good part of the last night of the Home Film Fest chatting with this kid named Mario. I had no idea until the photos came out that he was on American Idol. He just so happened to be in a film that a friend of mine directed and so we were all chatting between flicks. So obviously I am extremely out of touch with current pop culture. |
