"thread drift"
what does that mean? Does it mean contributing to a thread and drifting away?
Does it mean adding to a thread with a long drift?
Or does it mean something else?
You got me curious, bud.

Thread drift = posting a comment that has absolutely nothing to do with the comments pertaining to the title of said thread.

Pet Peeve - people who drive 55 or slower in the middle lanes of the Parkway... if ya wanna drive slow... Move Over!!

Speaking of drift: People who drift all the way to the right before making a left turn (or all the way to the left before making a right), thereby effectively blocking the entire lane so that no one can get around them.

This is especially frustrating on a heavily traveled street like Valley, when you can wait forever for a break in traffic before being able to make your left.

Traffic lines up for blocks!

Good times.

You know, I just can't understand why everyone else is even in this world, they are so damned annoying. Why can't everyone do what I expect or want them to do, even strangers on the street and people in other countries. Except they have to do it their own way, and with a little flair, please, or else they will be boring and trite like overfed suburbanites, which really bugs me also. But not so much flair that they stand out too much, or get in my way, or interfere with my reading or thinking or have their whistling mess with the neat tune running through my head. They should simply get the hell out of my way on the road, on sidewalks, on staircases, and stop picking their darned noses on subway trains because it makes me uncomfortable (even though I love living near and working in the greatest multicultural melting pot of a city in the world and it really peeves me when people are so uptight they can't appreciate it). And they should stop being mindless slaves to fashion and cool things so that I can actually get tickets once in a while to great shows and concerts--it is so annoying to have someone praise a show at a party or on MOL when I could not get tickets to go because I hate standing in line. This world would be such a great place to live if only everyone understood the right way to act, don't you think? Too much diversity can really ruin your day.

Wow, a man after my own heart. Although, we both are a bit cynical,at times, ( must be our age showing)This Petty Pet Peeves topic really does cover alot of gorund for most people.
Would it better to live all alone or with others? Would it be better not to have any Pet peeves at all, so we can't complain and give ourselves yet another reason to communicate? Just imagine if the world you just described, Mark was completely the way you wanted it, would you find a reason to complain anyway? Be honest.

Spring has sprang. And I'd like to thank Leo's nails for the impending rain.

You know what I really love - that clove gum. So bad it's good.

Carrie: My real pet peeve is people who don't catch my irony. I was making fun. When I catch myself bitching about all the little annoyances in life, I do indeed try to step back and realize how silly I can be. Ergo the post above.

I like New York in June - how about you?
I like a Gershwin tune - how about you?

I like blaming weathermen
When a storm is due

I like blocking streets
Moving slow on my motor trips
How about you?

I'm mad about thread drift
Can't get my fill
Blocking the escalator steps
Gives me a thrill

Holding hands with a man I know
While we are walking slow
May not be new
But I like it - how about you?

I like whistling a happy tune
hmmm hmm hmm hmm

(fade out)

people who drive real slow all the way to the traffic light - then speed through it when it turns yellow.

And don't even get me started on no one using turn signals

Among my many pet peeves:

When covering a story about a baby, newcasters frequently use the modifier "little" to describe the child. For example, "The parents of little Jonathan Holbrook were in court today to answer charges that they...."

People who wear sun glasses inside.

Pet Peeves? People who treat their pets as though they were human, complete with expensive dietary plans, pet psychologists, and often go as far as to feed them off their own plates. Revolting. It's a pet, not a person.

Speaking of revolting and pets: people who let their dog lick them on the mouth.

I've seen some that look like they're french kissing.

Yech.

People who mke judgements about how other people choose to treat their pets and/or how meaningful those "pets" are to their family.

People who cruise at 65mph & refuse to move in the far left passing lane on interstates.

People who bring their children to fine dining restaurants so that they can share the joy of teaching restaurant manners with everyone else.

People who say "it's not that I'm against [insert prejudice here], it's just that....". Dude, own your bigotry.

People who are more interested in assigning blame and/or whining than finding solutions.

My Beloved's habit of leaving empty soda cans all over the house.

Greene - how about people who put 1/2 (or 3/4) drunk open cans of soda back in the fridge? Are you ever going to finish it? No, it just sits there until I throw it away. Or when people don't close the bottle of club soda REALLY tight and it looses it's fizz. Same goes for leaving the crackers, cereal, chips bag not tightly closed up. Oh, and ....

People who bring their children to fine dining restaurants so that they can share the joy of teaching restaurant manners with everyone else.
