OK Pizzaz, Art and I accept...

So that everyone who is interested can be involved in the process, (no negative input please) we will do all the event planning on line.

First, we need to set a day/night, date, and time from when to when. Once we pick a date we’ll need to check with Jamie and Dave.

I suggest we look for something at least 30 days out. Say for a Sunday afternoon, between 1 and 4 PM. For broad support, make it private and charge $20.00 per person; everyone pays for his or her own drinks and meals.

Maybe you can throw in some free pizza. H2TA will provide the entertainment, and print up the flyers and tickets. We’ll offer the tickets for sale at different locations throughout both towns.

OK, what do you think about the plan so far?

I'd be willing to help as well.

Do the Ross' have a court date? I think as many of us as possible should show up in court to show our support for them. What exactly are they being sued for and by who? And why is the town also involved?

And make sure someone calls the newspaper to cover the event!

Someone from a national publication is already checking things.

To sum up the crux of the complaint: someone copied a document posted on the official Board of Education web site onto MOL for discussion and by doing so extended and exacerbated the alleged defamatory remarks by other defendants. We didn't author the document or make any of the remarks in the document; we are merely carriers of it.

We can sell yard signs to raise money--FREE THE ROSS 2!

Seriously, this is terrible. I will be glad to contribute.

SoorLady,

Actually this is exactly the type of b.s. Bush wants eliminated from our courts. Small businesses should not be torn apart by litigators. So, you can say this is a Republican issue as much as anything.

Instead of privatizing it, why not keep it open to the public? Invite anyone down and ask for donations, give a "suggested" donation amount. I bet you'd end up with much more support that way... people who don't frequent MOL but know about it might just happen to be there and decide to throw a few bucks in. But then again, I'm not a business person, so maybe Art's idea is better. Just throwing some ideas out there.

I'd love to come to the event, but all depends on my schedule.
Is the tip jar still working? Can you re-post the link?

I think it would be great to have something on a Saturday night at Bunny's. Maybe a band and, like Strings said, a suggested donation.

No Straw,

I think MOST of the American public are sick and tired of frivilous lawsuits tying up the court system and the outrageous monetary claims. (Dems, Repubs. Indies et al. included)

Media attention? It may help.

Actually, this may be a case that SHOULD warn the public and make them aware that just cutting and pasting from an article shown on a website can bring on petty lawsuits. I agree this is frivilous and hopefully it will not go so far in the courts.

Count me in on donating to the cause.

The Earlster has a good suggestion. How can "non-supporters" contribute money? This was set up around the holidays. Does it still exist?

Here's another idea for raising lots of funds quickly:

Now that I am finished my training and am the official Butt Massage Expert, I can donate my services at the fund raiser. Choice of coral or volcanic hot rocks.

:-)

Didn't you notice? The lawyer who filed the suit is guess what? A Republican!
