We would not object to do either or both days. Seeing the interest for both days, I think we can handle it. Who's in charge of ticket sales? Pick a weekend and let's do it. I'm thinking if we do a Saturday the gathering would start at 9:00pm and Sunday as mentioned. I reserve my vote to the Ross' choice. |

gotta go with a Sat. night..It's the only way to celebrate MOL while doing a good thing for those who made this thing a reality. Sunday just wouldn't be the same thing. |

Chance I could come on a Saturday night: 0%. Chance I could come on a Sunday afternoon: about 10%. So I guess I get 1/10 of a vote for Sunday? |

cant make either but Id say, have both if you think youd have a solid turnout for both. It seems folks have a strong preference for one over the other, not an "either one is fine", so its not going to pull people away from one or the other if you have two events. |

I'd go on either day to support the Ross bros, but Saturday would be a lot more fun. I also think this needs to happen no later than mid-March, while it's fresh in people's minds. |

I vote for Saturday night in March. I can't make the April dates. Either way I will give a donation. |

Pizzaz -- would you be willing to do both days -- like Saturday night March 19th and Sunday afternoon the 20th? You band people ... what are your votes/availablity? I think if we're going to do this we shoudn't wait too long, like Diva said -- when it's fresh in people's minds. |

I've corresponded with my bandmates, and we're interested in helping out. Looks like we can be available on most of the nights that are being batted around. The one night we can't do as a full band is Saturday, April 2. and I don't think anyone would really want to do Easter weekend. |

Why doesn’t each establishment throw their own get together and create a thread, or banner advertising it. For example: Save the Ross brunch and H2TA Sunday April 3rd Blah Blah Blah pancakes Blah Blah Blah who’s coming? I’ll be there Me too Dam liberals And so on. _______________________________________________ And some of the advertisers or supporters can have special items that you can buy For example: New Stuffed Pizza at bunnies ($1.00 of every Pie goes to the save the Ross fund) _______________________________________________ And last but not least: Dave and Jamie guest appearances. For example: Come to The Gate and get a photo with the infamous Ross Brothers - Wanted dead or alive. $5.00 per photo

Brett, not a bad thought, but I can tell you from trying to promote events in town -- it's very hard to get people to come out for even one event. if you split it up, you're likely to have several poorly attended functions instead of one moderately well-attended get-together. The best thing is for the venue (whether Bunny's or H2TA) to just pick a date that works for their establishment, book some entertainment, and then advertise it. We'll never get consensus online, because no single date will work for everyone. Personally, I'd really like to be part of this, but if the date doesn't work for me but it works for the venue, and it maximizes potential turnout, that's what's important.

one more 2 cents worth: My experience with performing in Maplewood and South Orange suggest that Art C. is right. Turnout will be better on a Sunday afternoon than a Saturday night (regardless of the enthusiasm many of you are showing for a Saturday). The nature of our towns is that most of the people who would come out for this have children. Saturday at 9 means babysitters. Sunday at 1 at Bunny's -- it's an all ages event. If it's promoted as an afternoon, kid-friendly activity, I'll bet the turnout is twice what it would be on a Saturday night. |

"Seeing the interest for both days, I think we can handle it." Well if Pizzaz can handle it, then that's good enough for me! We’ll call it “The MOL Weekend Business Support Extravaganza”. Twenty dollars buys you two amazing parties, for only one ticket. Attend one or both events at Bunny’s for the one low price of $20.00 pp. Beginning Saturday evening, April 2, 2005, from 9PM until closing, and Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2005 from 1PM until 4PM. I want to thank everyone for their input. As was noted by others, we can’t expect everyone to attend or agree on any one date and time. As nice as that would be, we need to move forward and set a date so people can make plans. The purpose of this event is to raise money to help defend this law-suit against Jamie and Dave Ross. I see our goal as needing to sell 100 tickets at $20.00 each for a combined total of $2,000.00. Most attorney retainers run anywhere from $1,500.00 to $2,000.00. I know we can do this! If everyone on line talks it up and helps out, this weekend event can go along way to support our good friends and keep MOL from shutting down because of some frivolous lawsuit. Can any of us think about what life here in Maplewood would be like without Maplewood on Line? I sure can’t… Before I print the tickets and offer them for sale, I will wait until Monday for more comments and suggestions. Thanks again for all your support.

Art- Please set up a Paypal Account for this!!! I think we should leave Jamie and Dave out of collecting any money through the Paypal account they have for this. That way it doesn't look they they are asking people for money. (Which they haven't). I also think those who aren't able to make the events, but want to help in some way, would be more willing to donate through Paypal over giving out their credit card number to someone online. Just my opinion. And either day is fine with me. |

Just the Aunt, Thanks for your suggestion. Those who can't make the event, but want to help, can still buy tickets and give them to friends or someone else. When you look on the back of a twenty dollar bill it says, IN GOD WE TRUST. Therefore, I'm only collecting cash for the tickets I'm selling. No, the check is in the mail, no Paypal, no credit cards, no bank deposits, no bounced checks, and no hassles. It's called the KISS-PAL Plan...

"I'm only collecting cash for the tickets I'm selling. No, the check is in the mail, no Paypal, no credit cards, no bank deposits, no bounced checks, and no hassles." Also, no money orders, or certified checks, C A S H ! Bob, you and anyone else ready to purchase tickets can drop your money off at H2TA. I will give receipts until the tickets are printed, and then personally deliver them afterward. I will also post a daily tally of tickets sold. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? |
