Please don't do this the 19th! I won't be able to go if you do. Unless it's in the afternoon. Thanks! |

The town officials in Emerson who sued their local message board (and lost) were Republicans. So being opposed to the suit against the Brothers Ross is not a "Republican" issue. It's also not a "Democratic" issue. It's a "Hey-we-all-live-here" issue. |

Being a left-hander, it's my moral obligation to contribute to the Ross Bros. legal defense fund. |

“Instead of privatizing it, why not keep it open to the public? Invite anyone down and ask for donations, give a "suggested" donation amount.” Thank you, good idea Strings! However, what I mean by, as you say privatizing it, is only to dedicate the time and date of the event exclusively to the fundraiser. “I think it would be great to have something on a Saturday night at Bunny's.” Thank you Algebra2! But I think we may need some more input on the Saturday night suggestion. That is usually a pretty busy night-out for most folks. I thought of Sunday afternoon because that might be a better opportunity to draw more people out. The support of the people is equally, if not more important as the money we hope to collect... BTW, we will definitely incorporate Strings suggestion for the band and a suggested donation. Straw, Phenixrising, and Maple Man, thanks for your support, but please allow me to make another suggestion; if we are going to pull this off we need to keep the drift out of this thread. I know how much we all love politics, but not this time, and not on this thread… Thanks Musicme, we’ll be in touch. Mem, I’ll ask Libby and Nate if we can borrow their message table... Thank you everyone, I feel this event already has generated a lot of energy… Lets keep it going!

So, what do y'all think -- would people be more available Saturday night or a weekend afternoon? If we do it on a weekend afternoon there'll be more kids. At least my kid -- he loves Bunny's, so that's cool. |

Think of this as more of a fundraiser to keep MOL running. Our names are on it, but it's your community – our community – under fire. If we can't keep this type of frivolous and malicious litigation from happening, I can't see how we can continue the message board at all. |

Debating whether this is "public" or "private" is silly. All are welcome, there should be a cover charge to get in, and that goes to the Rosses. Am I wrong or did someone want to make this an invitation only event, which in terms of fundraisers like this is just silly, why limit anyone? It really is scary, even though I'm sure the Rosses will have no problem getting this dismissed, anyone can sue anyone for anything, and it can break the back or a business or an individual. |

By the way, I'd pay well more than $30 just to meet Sbenois and Strawberry in person. |

Sunday is not a good idea. A Saturday night would pull many more people. People also consume more alcohol on a Sat. night than a Sunday, bars love that. Just my 2 cents. |

...the weekend of 3/19 or 3/26? My suggestion is for Sunday, April 3, 2005 from 1PM until 4PM. The reasons are as follows: 1. I suspect that because of the wide interest in this law suit, and the support for Maplewoodonline and the Ross brothers, the turn-out could easily be in the hundreds. 2. I'm concerned that March could still present some weather problems. With this number of people we should expect the possibility the people may flow outside of the resturant. 3. Bunny's is the perfect location to have this event as it has the parking space out back. This means we have the ability to handle any over-flow crowd by using the "Coming Soon" SOPAC, parking lot... (Kind of like a tail gate party if need be.) Do I hear a second for this date? If so, lets all vote on it so we can print the fliers and tickets, put an ad in the News Record, and get this Dog and Pony Show on the road... Dave... Jamie, I suspect we may raise a few thousand dollars. Do you think we should open a special checking account? Please PL, or call me so we can discuss this event further. |

Pizzaz -- what do you and Leslie think with regard to afternoon or evening? Honestly, I think a Saturday night is MUCH better. No offense, but I'd rather spend a nice spring afternoon NOT in a bar. Like apm said, people will be more likely to throw down some cash on drinks on a Saturday night. |
