Forget kicking strawberry or robert livingston's tush. Give me a few minutes to kick the plaintiffs' lawyer's tush!

Seriously, though, I hope it's not too late to suggest this, but what about collecting donations for all the defendants?

I'd pay just to meet the Rosses! <g>Not being a town resident, I'd love to meet some of the people whose (real) names I see all the time online.

Count me in for this shindig! I am appalled to hear that the Ross boys are under fire!

And I love the idea of nametags...I especially want to see Sbenois.

I'll have to be the contrarian here.
It's about time somebody sued these 2 guys.

Ok I'm just kidding about the suing. Really I'll be contrarian about the venues. I'm a little late chimining in but is there any way we could do a picnic/fair sometime toward the latter half of April, maybe even May--have some of the great local restaurants cater. I'm thinking places like Heart and Soul and my fave, Caribbean Quisine, etc. This way we could do it outdoors so Algebra doesn't have to waste a beautiful spring day indoors (I'm with her on that) and perhaps it will be warm enough for a dunk tank where I'd be happy to pony up some dollars for the chance of dropping her hubby in the drink. Robert Livingston could be in the liberal tank and all those rich repubs can spend all their dough trying to drop him.
Perhaps this can be a seperate event entirely, just wanted to throw it out there.

I think the "hello my name is" tags should have names and MOL handles. Well, they should have at least one.

I think we should all wear "John Doe" tags.

Joe:

I like the idea of a fair but I think we need to do something sooner than that.

How about a goods and services auction here on MOL? That could be set up very quickly and wouldn't need any venue other than MOL itself. Smoking and John/Jane Doe Tags wouldn't be an issue either.

I am sure most of us have items and/or services we are willing to donate.

Why is it considered a "waste" if it is in the afternoon? All you folks are so supportive but only if it suits your personal schedule? Whats up with that?
Art... I second your date. No one would have to "waste" anything. Come in, pay the cover have a beer and leave. You are not committed to the entire time. If having it on a Sunday afternoon in the spring and letting it be a drop in kind of event, more people might come if it means they dont have to book 3 hours out of a day or night. I agree with Art that Sat nights are tough. But so are Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sun.

I'm in, even if I can't be there.

As for the goods and services auction Joan there are laws surrounding auctions as benefits. If MOL is a 501(c) company they can get the appropriate permits. If it is not a registered not for profit venture then it gets more tricky. Someone else might know more about those details, I just know I cant do it for my company cause we are an LLC not a not-for-profit.

PRINT THEM FLYERS!!!!

"Seeing the interest for both days, I think we can handle it."

Well if Pizzaz can handle it, then that's good enough for me! We’ll call it “The MOL Weekend Business Support Extravaganza”. Twenty dollars buys you two amazing parties, for only one ticket.

Attend one or both events at Bunny’s for the one low price of $20.00 pp. Beginning Saturday evening, April 2, 2005, from 9PM until closing, and Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2005 from 1PM until 4PM.

I want to thank everyone for their input. As was noted by others, we can’t expect everyone to attend or agree on any one date and time. As nice as that would be, we need to move forward and set a date so people can make plans. The purpose of this event is to raise money to help defend this law-suit against Jamie and Dave Ross.

I see our goal as needing to sell 100 tickets at $20.00 each for a combined total of $2,000.00. Most attorney retainers run anywhere from $1,500.00 to $2,000.00. I know we can do this!

If everyone on line talks it up and helps out, this weekend event can go along way to support our good friends and keep MOL from shutting down because of some frivolous lawsuit. Can any of us think about what life here in Maplewood would be like without Maplewood on Line? I sure can’t…

Before I print the tickets and offer them for sale, I will wait until Monday for more comments and suggestions. Thanks again for all your support.

Art, let me take a tangent about you.

Wednesday, I was in Greenbrook on Rt 22, picking up a rental car. I asked the young man at the counter which business card was his. He said, "I'm Kurt." I found his card, which said Kurt Christensen. I asked if he was related to the Art Christensen in Maplewood. He said no, but I was not the first person to ask him that very question!

Thank you for your organizing spirit.

Now, now Duncan. I'm sure that Algebra plans on supporting this event, as do I. I only used the term waste, because that's what it feels like when I'm indoors on a beautiful day. But you do frame it so that it does take the sting out of it. As you suggest I'll pop in have a beer or 2 and be on my way--if it's a beautiful day. Of course if it's a typical, dreary March day, well I'll be there until they kick me out.

I often see people, especially after a few shooters, transfer the name tag to their forehead.
