Just confirmed that All district schools will be closing at 12:45 pm today 2/28. There is no Aftercare program and NO PM Kindergarten. Phone chain has been activated at the Elem. level.

EDITED - office just corrected their announcement - schools will be closing at the end of a 4 hour day session, NOT ALL AT 12:45 AS PREVIOUSLY POSTED.

If you can pick your children up before dismissal, that would great!

Suzann-
Maybe South Mountain is closing at 12:45, but I just got off the phone with Jefferson and they are dismissing the kids at 12 Noon. Adult picking them up or not. (which I think is a bad idea)

I think since the schools have different starting times they will be dismissed at different times. Especially those schools that bus.

YEs, JTA - When I first recevied a call from the office, I asked if all schools were dismissing at 12:45, and was told yes, hence, my posting. I got a call soon thereafter, stating NO, dismissal was at the 4 hour day time, so I edited my post to reflect that. Unfortunately, I cannot edit my subject header.

Here at SouthMtn, we have been asked to stay until all of our students have been properly dismissed/picked up.

Hi Suzann-
I noticed you added the edit, but it was too late because I had posted my note. Sorry.

Thanks Jamie for changing the title.

Just a small phone chain vent - as a PM K class parent who has been trying to call people - UPDATE YOUR PHONE NUMBERS! I have left lots of messages on home machines because people didn't give alternate #s or cell #! I hope they find out.

(of course, I'm betting now we will miss the storm since school is closed.)

Phone chain was activated only at Elementary Level? Is that correct?

susanneng-
Thanks for this public service! I've been checking the online radio station sites from work, and no info. I really appreciate your letting us all know!

Answering my own question. Just had a call from MMS. They have activated phone chain as well. Dismissal at 12:39pm today.

Alison & MOrris - I'm the librarian at South Mtn , and when the announcement was made over the PA, the kids were all cheering! Since I could not update the school website (the info is on my server at home, and I don't have remote access) I was given the OK to post to MOL.

I was only told that the Elem Phone chain had been activated. I hope everyone's children arrive home safely. And to piggyback on what hismom said... be sure your kids know what to do in case of early dismissal/delayed opening, and be sure the PTA has correct phone numbers.
