Posts are stating that the transportation coordinator is being eliminated. Who/How is transportation going to work now? Do the BOE members know how much of an impact this will be? My child is on the SE route and he does a wonderful job. |

Tom Cunningham is also responsible for contracting bussing for all out-of-district placements. Who is going to do this work now? Anyone know? |

I have not read all the specifics -- but can certainly say that Tom Cunningham, in all my interactions with him over the past 4 years, has been GREAT!
He has been a tremendous help with transport issues with both my kids.
Especially with my son, who last summer was 8, Mr Cunningham was so helpful in arranging transport for summer school -- it was very last minute, he was great in arranging things between the school and the Y, and I had peace of mind knowing my son was being taken care of.
He is a BIG asset to the district.

I agree, Tom does a great job as the Director of Transportation, but is there another reason he was Riffed?
What I was told is the position is being eliminated. Does this mean the Board of Education is going to privatize our bus drivers too? 25 custodians are on the way out! Wouldn't it be nice if the Board was honest with their employees and told them 2 yrs ahead of time that they are going to be privatized. This way they could find other employment before hand. As they leave, then the private employee could start.
These BOE Jobs used to be nice. The benefits good. It made up for the low pay support staff gets.
I wouldn't want the responsibility of 54 children on a huge bus in the snow and ice on the hills in town!! Our drivers are true professionals. |

I agree with Iwant I wouldn't want the responsibility either. Let's keep in mind that this district transports over 1000 kids per day.
He is in charge of in town as well as out of district kids. Is this really a position that should be eliminated? |
