I don't want everyone to know I'm online! Then they'll know how addicted I really am! My husband would kill me. |

I am not so sure about the listing of people on the board, or recently on the board. I agree it might discourage new posters and it also will "out" lurkers, who I understand make up a lot of the audience of MOL.

Dave, do you mean a list of people who are reading the site, or just people who have logged in and posted recently? (sorry if this is a technically dumb question) |

It would only list people who a) have a login b) want to be listed Also, if a person has a classified ad, it will show an icon next to his or her login name. |

Expiring the classifieds is great - that's been the main thing about the site that i haven't dug too much. The other thing is something that i'm sure you can't really control, but i'll mention it just for the heck of it. When i first started posting a few years ago, i liked that i could look at the # of posts next to a person's name and instantly tell if it was someone who'd been on the boards a while (which *usually* meant that they were fairly knowledgeable about old houses/the area). Now with threads like continued hilarity, i've seen people's numbers go from single to quadruple digits within a few months, so i no longer use them to put replies into context. Fortunately the board is small enough that i now know many of the personalities (for better and for worse)... but i kind of miss it the old way. |

Private line messages should be replyable directly. They should look like regular email. The option to remain anonymous should still be there. It is inconvenient for me to copy and paste the message and reply to the proper address. I gather this inconvenience is unsurmountable for people who are less computer savvy. |

Dave and Jamie: How about a place where people can announce the need for volunteers for community activities (so many of us who are regulars on MOL are also active in the bricks and mortar life of our two towns) and a place where people new to the community or with additional time due to life style changes can indicate ways in which they would like to get more involved? This could be a public service opportunity section of the board. |

Dave & Jamie, Here's something you can do soon if you agree: A Parents thread, with categories like: Pregancy Infants Toddlers 5 - 12 year olds Teenagers College Students MSO has so many parents and families - this would be nice for them.

Maplewood online internet radio. Not a 24/7 deal....at first. You could have guest DJ's! Local news! Live broadcasts from somewhere fun. I am sure this is really complicated. It could be fun. Maplewood Pirate Radio. Though it wouldn't be pirate...would it? Jamie & Dave you guys do a great job here. Thanks.

buzzsaw, I had actually contemplated making my own website to do that very thing, and we could make a Podcast out of the content too. |

I use the page without lefthand navigation. I'd like there to be a navigation at the bottom that gives the section and the topic links. Without these, I have to go to the top of the page and then click the nav-bar at the top. I learned that hitting "back" isn't the best thing, because the browser's cache of topics can fall out of date. |

An ignore button that would allow me to completely block out certain poster's blather. |

How about a limit as to how much time one can spend on MOL per day? Might help those of us who need to go to MOL-anon. |

Maybe a $75 fee to ban someone for a week or $300 for the month. We could retire. |

Is it such a bad thing to want to communicate on MOL? Instead of wanting to make it a capitalistic experiance, let's be supportive of those who keep this going. I am so sick of negative people it's just another "PetPeeve" How nice to have supporters. So typical of society to try to make money off of us! PS. yes,Dave, I know you are kidding. |

Dave, can you explain more about this one - I have no idea what you mean: 1) "Networking Neighbors" – an opt-in network you create. Whomever accepts your invitation gains access to your network and you to theirs, yet no personal information is revealed to anyone. I'd like to see would more customizability. Especially colors. I'm still struggling with the new ones - I'm a warm colors type person. The grey seems to hurt my eyes. Being able to set up the fora as personal favorites would also be cool. That way you only get a list of the ones you like to look at. Add "quote" to the toolbar in the editing window. Plus a few other formatting options that don't currently appear but that people seem to use a lot. Make it easier to upload a file from the editing window. |
