The iPod offer did come through, and it's awesome! However, before the thread was closed, someone posted something about them violating privacy laws. If anyone has any more info about that, please post it. Here's a picture: |

So remind us of the "price you paid" to get this. |

My kid wants an iPod and I'm pretty clueless about the various models, pricing, etc. Can anyone make some recommendations and/or point me to some comparative information? |

She's 13 and mainly wants to download and listen to music. I haven't grilled her on any other capabilities desired and I guess I don't know what other capabilities they have, although I see something about photos in the picture above and I suppose that could also be of interest. |

We just got the iPod Mini 4 gig. Can hold up to 1500 songs which is just fine for us. $199 at the Apple store. The wife listens to it while she works out and I listen to it in the morning while I'm puttering around waking up. We love it and don't think that a larger HD would serve us any better. Besides, you can delete the songs off and add new ones all the time. The photo thing is nice but I don't think the price is justified. Don't go with the Shuffle. It's not worth the money and she'll get frustrated with the lack of options. |

I upgraded to the 60 gig iPod Photo, but only because Costco had it for a good price and they have the best return policy in the universe. Oh, and also because my wife wasn't looking. |

Congrats flug. I have all of my referrals. Now they have to verify them. I could be getting a free 20 iPod soon! Tom, the cost? Nothing. Just some effort. If you're willing to put in a little time it can be done. http://www.freeiPods.com/?r=13250342 If you want any hints about what to do and what not to do PL me.

I realize it's time rather than money, time I'm probably not willing to provide. I was just wondering if you could estimate the amount of time. |

Jeff I have all my referrals too. I even completed my membership in the CD club. BUT non of the completions show. And it's been a couple months! Maybe you could send me those suggestions? My brother in law won an Ipod at the Tricky Tray we were at tonight. My brother won a digital video camera. I won squat! |

JTA - you can question them through the help button about your own commitment. Your referrals have to question them themselves, you can't do it. 1. You can't have two referrals from the same address. 2. You can't sign people up on your own computer. They have to use their computer. 3. For some of the offers, if your referral takes the offer and then immediately cancels, you won't get credit. There's a lot of fine print they can get you on. Just because you see a referral listed on your site doesn't mean they've actually completed an offer. I suggested to people to actually join something that makes sense for them, like the BMG Music Service. 12 CDs for the price of 1 with no additional commitment. There are also some credit card offers where all you have to do is apply and be accepted for the card. Other offers require that you make a least one purchase on your credit card. I'm hopeful that my 5 commitments will be "verified" this week. I'll let you know if they deny me for some reason. |

And getting back to flug's initial question, if you go to the press link on the freeipods site they address the privacy issue. They vehemently deny that they give out email addresses. I know that I haven't gotten spammed and I use Spybot every couple of weeks. |

well i don't just mean that, they could be selling all sorts of info. juat the aunt, have your referrals completed their offers? tom, it was a lot of time, but it was usually after staying up until 5am to get work done, so i wasn't sleeping anyway. and it was 20 or 30 dollars of dvds. not so bad. i got the 40 gig photo. if you're buying one, i don;t see the need for the photo part, it just displays the photos - you could make a slideshow on your tv. if it's purely for music, don't waste the cash. truth be told, if it wasn't free, i wouldn't overpay for an iPod, i'd probably buy a better mp3 player with a better reputation, for less. |

You (flug) needed 10 referrals for the photo iPod and I needed only 5 for the 20 gig iPod. Knowing then what I did now I think you can do the whole thing pretty easily if you have a big email distribution list of friends and family. My joke list is probably about 100 so I got immediate responses from a bunch of people. You've got nothing to lose. |

jeffl, that might not be true. i'm afraid i9 might have had my privacy to lose. of course the site is going to deny anything, but they obviously did something to tick off the privacy sites that were representing them. i have to research it some more. |

I just got notification that I'm getting my free iPod too! If you have any interest, go for it. It only takes 5 friends/relatives and the offers are pretty good. Even applying for a credit card and getting approved qualifies. |

The new ipod Shuffle is awesome! For $99 it gives you the functionality you need and is portable enough to use all the time. The only thing it lacks is a screen to select and/or see what you're listening too. |
