While sitting here inhaling Do Si Do's with their wonderful peanut butter flavor and dreamy flaky cookie part it occurred to me that there has to be tons of boxes of cookies on the desks of MOLer's. I'm personally addicted to peanut butter hence my choice. What's everyone else’s? |

This year I discovered, (probably the not so popular choice) none. I don't like them anymore. I am so tired of the thin mints, and the others, for lack of a better word, yuk! |

Thin mints...best value for the $$$$. There are literally cases sitting in my office. What I'm trying to find are the troops that use the different baker -there are two companies used. There are other kinds of GS cookies that are sold but not available everywhere. We're looking for the low-fat apple cinnamon, Pinatas (they have the dried strawberries in them) and I think I saw something called a "cinnamon pinwheel". We've wiped out a box of All-Abouts in record time Monday...working on a box of thin mints...half a sleeve left. |

Samoas are definitely the best... speaking of which, I ordered some from a student. I hope they're coming soon!! |

blackcat - Scouts in this area get their cookies from Little Brownie Bakers (who provide IMHO the superior product). Scouts in the council to the west of here get their cookies from ABC Bakers. Since no little girl scout knocked on my door this year, and I haven't passed a booth as yet, I don't know what (other than the usual) names they're selling. But, my favorite: it's a tie between LBB's thin mints and samoas. |

$3.50 a box, and can feed maybe two people ..not a bargain, though the Girl Scout Cookies are good., I think I'll make my own. |

Carrie - consider it a donation to a good cause - out of that $3.50, the troop gets a cut, the troop's district gets a cut, the council gets a cut, and camps like Eagle Island get a cut. All money goes for programing and improving facilities. The cookies are just a bonus. |

It's more than a bargain - it's supporting the Girl Scouts. And a box definitely feed more than 2 people. They usually sell boxes in Maplewood Village sometime in March or April. Keep a look out for them. |

I think the ABC Bakers' cookies could be found in the Union area. I bought some outside the Shoprite on Morris Avenue either last year or the year before. Hope she's there this year! |

Two places I know you can buy on the street on Saturdays are the corner of Prospect and Springfield Ave, and in front of the bank across from the post office on Maplewood Ave. Oh and maybe down by Arturo's as well. Cathy |

Im not saying it isn't going to a good cause, or am I saying it isn't a good cookie. My husband bought two boxes from an associate at work, who has a daughter. The peanut butter chocolate and the thin mint are a good choice. I have a son and a daughter, and one child on the way, as well as a husband- who likes my baking. All I'm saying is, I think they are expensive, nonetheless. |

More sites for cookies - both train stations on Fridays during the evening rush. I like all of them except Tagalongs, but Thin Mints are probably my favorite. Although I do think that our baker has better cookies, I also like the strawberry pinatas and just bought a supply from a co-worker who lives in Pennsylvania. |

Correction: A box of GS cookies only feeds one person. Get your own! |

Thin mints, no question about it (for me). I actually just saw the breakdown on sales (I donate to the Scouts, and get an occasional newsletter)...I think that between 2/3 and 3/4 of the sales cost goes directly to scouting at various levels, with the bulk of it going to the Essex/West Hudson GS Council. This is a real serious fund raiser, and does a huge amount to support Girl Scouting. I'm just glad that I get some cookies for my donation! |

Carrie, if you would prefer to donate to the girl scouts directly without buying the "expensive" cookies you can go here: http://www.girlscouts.org/support/ I try to keep the cookies in my house to a minimum but I will pick up a few GS when they come around. I go for the thin mints or low fat lemon ones. Love the pb but they are just too much for my diet. |

Not only does a box of Thin Mints only feed one, a single sleeve is enough to get me from the village to my driveway. The Thin Mints Edy's ice cream doesn't have enough cookies in it. You have to buy a box to crumble into the ice cream. Last weekend, I went to the Big Kings and the girls were out selling cookies in front. It's hard to resist a little face (especially when it's so cold) asking you to buy cookies. I had resolved not to do it this year, but they had a great compromise: buy a box to send to troops overseas. That I did. My conscience and butt are both better off for it. |

RedY67, I agree they're really not that good, though they are rather addictive. Both my daughters were girl scouts, so I sold lots of cookies. One year, I bought in advance and paid for them out of pocket. I spent hundreds. It took a while to get rid of them all, except for Thin Mints. They sell fast. I got calls from strangers in the neighborhood asking if the rumor was true, that I had Thin Mints for sale! The girl scout troup selling the cookies gets a paltry amount from the sale. It's nearly criminal. Nowadays, I just write checks to causes like this. |
